This is a heated paranormal romance with a strong lead triangle deftly handled

Gideon killed the vampire who had just killed a human. However, he has no joy in the hunt or the slaying ever since his brother Jacob became a third mark servant giving up his soul to vampire Lady Elyssa. Filled with rage he goes to Club Atlantis a hangout for the BDSM crowd. He rejects a mocking, physical and psychological mistresses; each time destroying the room. Finally club manager Anwyn Naime decides to tame the beast personally.

Anwyn tells him to surrender to her as Daegan the vampire arrives to watch. She says to the hunter three women will strip and restrain him with straps. Gideon explodes and breaks furniture, but makes sure his mistress is safe. Anwyn orders him to keep her women safe while they strap him up. He obeys as they chain him and will play with him until he comes. When he says no more, she frees him. He knows she is the one, but goes berserk when he sees the vampire mark on her. She tells him to leave and hopes he gets what he wants, death. As he leaves, three visitors led by Barnabas demand to see Daegan informing Anwyn they have a message for the vampire. Gideon realizes what Barnabas meant. He finds Anwyn in the alley raped and bitten by Barnabas; she will need her sire's blood or go insane. Daegan takes her inside and gives orders but allows Gideon to come because Anwyn asked for him.

This is a heated paranormal romance with a strong lead triangle deftly handled as a key plot element. The threat of the heroine to suicide is fascinating yet repetitive as she struggles with the unwanted change. Readers will enjoy Joey Hill's entertaining urban fantasy erotica with pleasing BDSM scenes starring three lead characters refreshingly different especially having a dominatrix becoming a vampiress.

    Desperate Search for Love

Joey W Hill is my all time favorite romance author and since I've read close to fifty writers, both as a fan and a researcher, that's saying a lot. Vampire Mistress, lived up to my expectations for Ms Hill with a story that went far beyond the ordinary into the achingly human tale of Anwyn Naime, whose personal world is shattered when she is viciously raped and unwillingly turned by a psychotic vampire, who'd targeted her lover. Horribly injured, she can't function as the Dominatrix owner of her upscale BDSM club, Atlantis and she's thrown into the frightening process of becoming a vampire, made worse by the madness of her sire. She plummets from successful entrepreneur to lost soul in the space of an hour. Yet, words Anwyn speaks before the assault offer hope for her recovery. "We can always be made helpless, but in our helplessness we find that enduring core of strength, the part that reminds us to live, to lust, to hunger. To never despair." Anwyn's is a mythic journey back from terrible loss, that has been told and retold for thousands of years.

Broken, Anwyn needs help and it's there for her in an unlikely duo. There's Gideon Green, a driven vampire hunter on the edge of a personal breaking point, who'd earlier sought out her services at Atlantis. There, each of them recognized something very compelling in the other. Anwyn also has, Deagan Rei, a sort of special ops vamp who is centuries old, but has never found a way to tell the club owner how much he loves her. Now, Anwym is perhaps fatally injured with the outcome of her turning uncertain. The two alpha males crowd and snap at each other while trying to make nice, because Anwyn insists she needs both as caretakers and neither man is willing to walk.

Anwyn's burgeoning sexual needs, part of the turning, push the two alphas to the limit and the sexual scenes are hot in the extreme. Although Ms Hill is characterized as a BDSM writer, her exploration of sexuality goes far beyond that to ragged edges that often exist only in a peripheral view. The volatile menage in this story churns up longings and possibilities, surprising even to the ancient Deagan, yet Ms Hill writes these moments in the lyrical language of sensuality, creating intense sizzle. There is one scene that's harshly brutal and rawly emotional, so those who prefer sex in a softer light need to be advised.

Vampire Mistress transpires over seven days in Anwyn's basement apartment. By the final pages, the tone is oppressive with unanswered questions: Can Anwyn ever reclaim her former life? Can the rogue, Gideon, accept being a third marked servant? Can Anwyn and Deagan ever recover from the implications of her rape and injuries? Thankfully, Vampire Trinity, the second half of the story comes out Sept. 7. Joey W Hill has never failed to write a satisfying HEA for her tortured characters, so I can't wait to get my hands on part two.

    Only a taste...

This latest by Joey Hill seems to be only the beginning of the story between the threesome, in the same way that his brother's story was told in more than a single book, Gideon's story is obvious only just beginning. I love her other books, but this one could have been 100 pages shorter and still captured the angst and agony of the characters as they found ways to survive together and form a new bond. Fans of BDSM will enjoy the angle developed in this story, but it's not my favorite of her books simply because the plot didn't develop as quickly as I would have liked, and when it did, it repeated the scenes it had just developed several times (i.e. woman is unwell, must be chained, becomes well, is unchained, becomes unwell, must be chained). I still enjoyed it, but preferred her other ones. The character that is most alluring isn't the main character or Gideon, which tells me more is coming from Joey Hill. The allure of a reluctant threesome kept my attention throughout, and I can't wait for the next installment in this 'series.'

The first book in the Trinity saga of Anywn, Gideon and Daegan. (also book #5 in the Vampire Queen Series). Gideon a vamoire hunter becomes a servant to 2 vampires over 2 books. The has never been a better vampire menage ever written.

    Joey Hill has Another Winner

Complex characters with an emotional depth that sets the story apart from other "run of the mill" vampire romances. A writing style that captivates the reader from beginning to end. Can't wait for the next installment in the series.
