Overview

One man stood between them and us.

U.S. Marshal Jameson Arkeley—the country’s foremost authority on vampires—taught police investigator and vampire fighter Laura Caxton everything she knows about monsters. After a bloody war visited upon Gettysburg by an army of vampires, Arkeley gave up his own life to save others. Except he didn’t exactly die . . .

Arkeley accepted the curse and is now a vampire himself. What’s worse, he’s the savviest vampire ever—he knows all the tricks better than anyone. Caxton is now faced with the task of destroying him. But Arkeley knows all her tactics too; after all, he taught them to her. Caxton realizes she must finish Arkeley before he succeeds in his quest to exterminate his own family, one member at a time. But even more important, she has to prevent him from becoming a beast exponentially more dangerous—a Vampire Zero.

    more from this reviewer

Well written in that gruesome monster style, David Wellington provides a strong vampire thriller

The second battle of Gettysburg (see 99 COFFINS) was won by the humans but at quite a cost. The victory came because the paranormal expert U.S. Marshal Jameson Arkeley gave his life to insure his side won. His apprentice police investigator and vampire fighter Laura Caxton fears the end is not in sight in site of finding the Civil War journal that tells her what happened and the sacrifice of her heroic mentor; she just does not know what comes next.

She is proven right as the worst case scenario comes alive. The world¿s greatest authority on vampires Arkeley was bitten and is now an undead. He knows every move his former student knows because he taught her. Stunned and preferring to hide as she did following her first encounter (see 13 BULLETS), Caxton hates what she must do; she must kill her teacher before he becomes too powerful for anyone to stop, which she believes in her gut is already true.

This exciting bloody vampire tale is fast-paced, action-packed, and an incredible in your face (make that neck) twist that will fascinate and stun anyone who read the first two books. The hero (along with Caxton) of 13 BULLETS AND 99 COFFINS is now the most dangerous lethal villain of all, VAMPIRE ZERO. Newcomers may not fully grasp the monumental spin as Caxton hunts her former teacher, the world¿s foremost authority on the vampire insurgency. Well written in that gruesome monster style, David Wellington provides a strong vampire thriller.

Harriet Klausner

A solid addition to the series

Vampire Zero isn't as enthralling as 99 Coffins but, still manages to keep you reading. If you've read either of the previous books you now what to expect in terms of bloody action and plot twists. Once again Wellington leaves a little to be desired when it comes to the ending but, considering there's another book after its not too frustrating. Overall its entertaining for those who have followed the series but, newcomers should check the others out first.

    Tense and personal

If you've been reading the Laura Caxton vampire series, then this entry is everything you would expect. Action packed, gruesome, gritty, it pulls you in by playing on the relationships of established characters. If you haven't... well, don't think too much, have some popcorn and enjoy the ride.

    I Also Recommend:

    A great book

This book is really good. It is about vampire hunter Laura Caxton. This is her 3rd outing.

Sequel to "13 Bullets" (Original) and "99 Coffins" (makes you want more)where we learn vampires are not extinct. These are not your typical vampires. Not for the squeamish.

    Spoilers below.

Laura is out to find her mentor who in turn became a vampire. He knows all the tricks of hunting vamps.

    Followed by "23 Hours".
