Meet the Author

S.J. Wright (aka Steph) first began writing stories when she was twelve years old. She has been a cashier, a receptionist, a factory worker and has served a multitude of other roles over the years. Her favorite role has been that of a mother to her two sons. She lives in Texas with her husband, two boys and Shelby, an old Jack Russell terrier who likes to follow her into every room of the house. S.J. grew up near the University of Notre Dame and most of her family still lives in Indiana, where she hopes to live again one of these days.

The Undead in Brown County series takes place in Brown County, Indiana. S.J. and her husband spent a few days there after they were married in 2002. She began writing the series in October of 2010. In February of 2011, she published her first novel The Vampire's Warden as an ebook on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. After several months of self-promoting the book, she was able to consider the idea of turning it into a career. Since then, she has released three more books in the series and is working on a fifth.

    Alright

This book was alright. Not great, not terrible. I know several people wished for more romance, but I wish there were less passages about how hot soandso is, less lusting. Can't she figure out her life without the love triangle?

Small nitpick, but the name Sarah Brightman gives me an image of some woman singing opera with a certain man dressed as a phantom. Wish that wasn't the character's name.

    what was this

i'm not sure what this was. an introduction to a story a short story , what? is she in love with michael-alex- herself. she has a great right, there are scary vamps, who are the council, i just don't understand this book. maybe i was looking too hard for a plot, but this didn't leave me wanting more, it just was strange. recommend to those who like vamp books.

    Not enough romance

IT was ok. It would have been much better if their were more romance in it. Through the whole book, I kept hoping their would be romance, but their was none. I hope the next part has romance in it.

    Half n Half

It was free on my Nook, so I thought "why not". I am a huge paranormal romance book reader! It was so slow in the beginning through the middle I put it down numerous times. Everytime there was a new scene Sarah encountered there was never an explanation, not even a little. I know this is fantasy but it was annoying rather than making me want to read on. My need to finish things I start is what brought me back each time.

With that be said, once it got towards the end I became engaged and now I want to read the next book.

I will recommend this series however there will always be a "bbbuuuttt....it's a slow read" in there.

    OK for a short story

Over all the story was pleasant. It was somewhat strange the way that cussing was written in the book, like neither the character nor the author were comfortable dropping and "F" bomb. It would have been better if that was just left out of the dialogue completely. I would not recommend this to another adult but maybe a teenager would enjoy this.

    Questionable but refreshingly different

This book started off sort of slow but eventually before the end it got a little more interesting. It was a different pace from the normal vampire books. I am going to read the next book in the series just because the ending is what drew me in. Sarah is a strong yet confused character who has yet to be fully developed story wise I think. I can't wait to see what this next book reveals. Good job Wright!

    This book was okay

This book had great potential and I am sure if the author had taken the time to allow the plot line to mature this would have been a marvolous read and a true page turner.
Also she did a poor job of establishing her characters. We understand Sarah is yhe main character and protagonist, and one can assume Alex is the all knowing side kick, but where does that leave Michael? Who is the antagonist? I personally have more questions than answers after reading this novel.

So dull i could hardly finish it

Seriously, there was potential here. A quasi good story and some characters with a few good plot lines developig but it just....fell flat. There was no excitement and if i read one more book with a simpering whiny ass 20 something lil twit in it i might scream.
Where have all the great female characters gone? Are they are destined to become Bella swans who dont find their backbon til they are dead and EVEN then cry whine about it?

Really enjoyed this book so I purchased book 2 and was disappointing because it was less than 100 pages and then you need to purchase book 3!

    Not to shabby

The over all story was pretty good and i actually enjoyed it, however sometimes the wording of things sounded off. Other than that that's probably the only negative thing i have to say about the book.
