This is the autobiography of a young officer's wife who was stationed at lonely outposts in Arizona and Texas in the late 1800s. They endured many hardships and lived in some rather hot and desolate places. This book was of special interest to me, because growing up in Arizona many years later, I often wondered what conditions were like for the early settlers, and because I, too, was an officer's wife (under much better circumstances.) I couldn't put this book down.
