Overview

The life of Eva Braun, the former mistress and later wife of Adolf Hitler, the infamous leader of Germany, is an enigma to most people. Was she seduced by his charm, or was she his willing accomplice?

Of modest upbringing and limited schooling, she clawed herself up to the pinnacles of power and became, despite her Catholic upbringing and against the strong objections of her father, the mistress of the most powerful man in Europe. Yet, she had to stay out of the limelight, her existence only known to a small group of insiders. Her loyalty and love to Hitler were finally rewarded by an offer of marriage, albeit too late.

The book expands on these and other important aspects of her life and sheds light on the inner workings of Hitler’s court and his personal lifestyle; including Hitler’s personal comments to Eva regarding preparations for traveling to the moon and about German atomic weapons.

A very interesting read which I recommend.

i thought this was a very interesting account of the life of Eva Braun since there were
so many conflicting stories regarding Hitler & Eva's life together & its ending. I had
never known the true facts concerning Eva & Hitler & was satisfied with the resulting
story. This was, I think, a very important part of history & should have been written about.

    Interesting and entertaining read...

Baumann does a great job of incorporating the known and the unknown aspects of Eva Braun's life. The book is rich with visuals and thoughtful speculation on what may have happened to Eva Braun after the end of WWII. This book is a great follow up to Baumann's historical investigation into Hitler's fate at the end of WWII (Hitler's Fate, the Final Story). These are both facinating reads for any WWII history buff.

    A FASCINATING BOOK

It is an interesting experience to learn of the inner workings of Hilter's court.A spellbinding book, full of love, intrigue, suspense, horror, and ultimately a life falling apart. One wonders, was she a willing Nazi,or a naive girl seduced by the evil power around her?I highly recommend this book.

A womderful book exposing a less wonderful life

This well written book provides a rare insight into the inner workings of Hitler's court and the surprisingly ordinary lifestyle of the Third Reich's top leaders, contrary to what one would expect. Eva Braun freely admits her cunning maneuvers (showing her legs and faking suicide) to leach on to this evil dictator. Yet she never received the exposure and limelight that she sought so dearly. The auhor managed well to convey all the known facts as if seen through her own eyes.
