Overview

Def Leppard was untouchable in the '80s. Over the course of four albums, the band established itself as one of the best and most popular hard rock/heavy metal groups of the decade, scoring a long list of hit singles. Vault compiles the biggest of those hits, as well as selections from their first album of the '90s, Adrenalize, and the outtakes collection Retro Active. Essentially, Def Leppard's legacy rests on two albums: 1983's Pyromania and 1987's Hysteria. On both records, the group created a sleek, shiny brand of hard rock powered by huge, catchy melodies and guitar hooks that owed more to Mott the Hoople and T. Rex than Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. It was a polished but potent sound, whether the band turned out rockers ("Photograph," "Rocket") or ballads ("Bringin' on the Heartbreak," "Love Bites"). Vault has all of the necessary items, from "Pour Some Sugar on Me" to "Rock of Ages." It's not a perfect collection -- it's not sequenced chronologically, it includes too much material from Adrenalize, and the new "When Love & Hate Collide" is simply average -- but that doesn't stop Vault from being a great greatest-hits collection.

I love this CD!!! It has hits from the many good years of Def Leopard. The tone quality is wonderful ,even on older songs on the CD. If you only buy one DL CD this is the one for YOU!

i was actually surprised to see vault in the charts now as its quite old. let it not take away anything from def leppard though who in the late 80's and early 90's were definetely IT!. my own greatest compilation of theres would have been slightly different nonetheless this is a good offering. one can listen to love and hate collide again and again just for the way he sings ''when the truth is like a stranger, hits u right b/w the eyes''. hysteria can still ''haunt'' many lovers and is by far their best track. make love like a man, heavin is, love bites and have u ever need, are all great songs. missing from this compilation are love and affection and women. overall its a must have for any def leppard fan.

I BOUGHT VAULT SOMEWHERE 3 YRS BACK AND THIS ONE COMPILATION IS A MUST FOR A DIE HARD ROCKER. IAM NOT INTO METAL BUT IF IT COMES TO ROCK BALLADS IT HAS TO BE DEF LEP. EACH NUMBER HAS ITS OWN DRIVE AND THE BEST WAY TO ENJOY THIS IS LISTINING IT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I MEAN U WILL FEEL UR GRIP ON THE STEARING WHEEL TIGHTENING AND U WILL BE SIMPLY SWAYED BY THE THEIR GUITERING. BUT I MUST SAY THEY SHOULD'VE ADDED SWITCH 625 TO THEIR COMP.

This is one of my most favorite cd's I listen to, my roomate actually owned it, but never listened to it and when she moved out she took it with her. I was absolutely lost without it, so I made it my mission to be the owner of it once again, and own it I do! I absolutely recommend this album for everyone.Just another tidbit of info......they sing exactly the same LIVE as they do on their CD's. Just phenomenal I tell ya, phenomenal!!!

I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this album but everytime I do it's better than the last, with when Love and Hate collide being my best track, followed very close by Photograph and Animal, they sound the same live as they do on their album it's a must for all the original metal heads

Many people say def leppard is just another big hair band, but i dont see it that way, especially after hearing this album. The guitar riffs and the awesome drums just make you want to rock out when you hear it. what has 9 arms and rocks? def leppard!
