Kelly Peloza started experimenting with vegan baking as a high school student, blogging about her vegan adventures all the while. Her amazing recipes and gorgeous photos drew a crowd of eager readers who have been begging her for a cookbook ever since. Now an energetic, spunky college student, her book is fi- nally ready for her anxious audience. From double peanut butter sandwich cookies and coconut caramel butter cookies to raspberry almond cookies and inside out peppermint patties, these delicious and imaginative recipes are sure to inspire bakers of all ages.

Peloza is committed to using ingredients that are easy to find, natural, and simple to use. You won’t find egg replacer, expensive cooking oils, or hydrogenated margarine in her recipes. “Making a batch of chocolate chip cookies shouldn’t involve running to five different health food stores searching for some elusive ingredient,” she writes. But you will find helpful tips for things like substituting margarine for oil in recipes, experimenting with non-dairy milks, using whole wheat flour, and ensuring the sugar you use was not processed with animal bone char. The result is a simple, thorough, and inspiring collection of mouthwatering cookies anyone can make and everyone will love.

If you're comfortable in the kitchen, this is a definite recommend. If you're not comfortable in the kitchen, I'd still recommend but with one caveat: do not be afraid to add more liquid. Peloza's recipes are delish. I haven't had one stinker so far, and some of the recipes have been easy enough to tweak on the fly with excellent results. For example, my kids loved the addition of peppermint extract to the chocolate chip snowballs. But I have definitely found that I end up adding more wet ingredients because the consistency isn't quite where I expected. I also have found that I have to press the cookies (even when the recipe doesn't call for me to do so) because the cookies don't tend to spread much, even with the added liquid. I've give this book five stars just because of the wide variety of options and the overall great results, but the issue with consistently dry dough gives me pause. I don't have this problem with Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar or My Sweet Vegan, so I think it's just an issue of how Peloza measures compared to how I measure. No big deal, and certainly not a deal breaker on this book. I'll be baking from it for years to come...just to sample each recipe.

Great book, very easy to follow ( you'd have to really not know what you're doing to mess any of these recipes up). I love that most things can be made with fairly common ingredients, and don't cost a fortune to make.  I was honored to have watched Kelly demo and sample a recipe from the book, it was was incredible.  I recommend this book, just prepare to gain lots of weight cause you you won't want to stop baking and eating!

I would like to say that i tried this book, loved it, and highly recommend it, but I can't because the sample that comes with it doesn't include one recipe...why would you try out a cookbook in its digital format without at least looking at one recipe.
