I bought this book for a vegan friend and now want to buy it for myself. It is by far the best book for vegans or people who live alone. The recipes are broken down into a weekly menu with a shopping list at the beginning of each week. All perishable food items are used up within the week, saving money. There is a wide variety of recipes and they are all very simple but full of flavor.
After following a vegetarian diet, I am moving to a vegan diet. Early in the book, the author states that breakfasts and lunches would not be covered because so much information is available from other sources. As those were the two meals that I was most interested in help with, I guess I need to look for other sources. The recipes that were included were not that appealing.
i just recently discovered the horrors of the animal exploitation industry and was more than a little concerned about what i'd possibly find to eat as a new vegan and college student...to my delight and surprise, the recipes in this book are simple, quick, varied, and actually quite good. the weekly grocery lists make the whole dietary paradigm shift much more convenient, as well. i had honestly never really cooked a meal (save macaroni and cheese and canned foods) before this book and had no trouble picking up the recipes. if you're an experienced chef, you might feel a little constrained, but most of us aren't and this is just wonderful! :)
