Overview

"Vegan Vampires - Drac is Back" is a Comedy Play with the Serenity Song included. Draco's wife Camelia wants him to stop sucking blood and go vegan. All her friends are doing it. She also wants to have a beach house. She complains and makes him promise to go to a Vegan Vampires Anonymous Meeting. Draco is dragging his fangs about it. Draco eventually goes to a meeting because he loves his wife. He meets up with other Vamps who are in the same boat as he is and the fun begins.

This play was inspired by my friend Fergus. He had just finished his play “The Night Vampires went after The Pope” and wanted me to publish it for him. I didn't know much about formatting a play and I had to learn this before publication so I looked at some published plays to learn a little more about formatting and became interested in writing one myself. I have several spy novels under my belt but love comedy so, just for something to do, I sat down at my computer and ideas started forming to create the short play “Vegan Vampires – Drac is Back.”

I decided to write a sequel to Ferg's play but he had already started on a sequel so, being mostly finished writing this one, I made it a stand alone play with different characters. I went through several character changes until I liked the ones I finally picked and the situation they found themselves in...Addicted to Neck. I go to Anonymous Meetings myself so I thought 'What about Vampires trying to stop sucking blood and going Vegan?' Alcohol used to be glamorized in times past but now it has less of that magic appeal to me because of all of the problems alcohol abuse caused me. So in this day of Grande Lattes and vegetarianism, I thought it interesting that Vampires may go through the same cultural change hence “Vegan Vampires – Drac is Back.”

The title in the beginning was Drac is Back – Vampires Anonymous but I wanted to title to tell more about the play so I renamed it. It is a short play and not meant to drag on and it may be used as a headliner play or a play for Halloween.I listened to Chopin's Funeral Theme Death March played on a piano as I did the final edit. It seemed to get me in the mood.

To the actors: Have fun with it. Laugh at yourself.
To the audience: Enjoy!!
To my buddy Fergus: Thanks friend.
