All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Perhaps it's unfair to label the Crystal Method as an American Chemical Brothers, since they are contemporaries of, not successors to, the English duo, but the comparison makes sense. There isn't much subtlety to their music, but there doesn't need to be, since their heady fusion of classic, late-'80s hip-hop, rave, techno, and rock is intoxicating on its own. Vegas, the duo's debut album, rushes by in a quasi-psychedelic blur, occasionally stopping for ambient detours. There aren't any revelations along the way, but the Crystal Method does this crossover techno well, ...

Hi Energy! Still Kix After 8 - Classic Rock in 25 years

Love this album, Got it as new release in '97, played it w/repeat all day more than a week while pushing a project to complete on time, FOCUS! Energy! Sometimes the sound gives me chills up my spine, emotion, like Pink Floyd's Wall/others, the Who's Quadrophenia, NIN, stuff from the Cool World inspired by soundtrack, Door's "Light my fire" - Vegas hit me like similar stuff from '81-84 "Industrial Rock" or earlier stuff called "Acid", some Jazz.

    Trey thinks it beats bootie!!!

This album is one of my very favorite discs to listen to. Whether dancing, driving, or just sitting at home relaxing, the vibe given off by Vegas is oh so good. OH, and the bass sounds freaking awesome!! I think everyone who even thinks they might have an inkling of interest in techno-style music should drop everything and go buy it. Only one downside, we need more Crystal Method albums.

It's a pity that this is their only album

The Crystal Method show that they may be LIKE the Chemical Brothers, but they are not nearly as inconsisent. This album, with the exception of High Roller, is full of great songs. Comin' Back and Trip Like I Do are my favorites. The female singer's voice is so good, so all of the tracks with her are fantastic. When the album ends you'll be sad that it's over and that they haven't made a new one since (hey it's been 4 years now).

Excellent!!!! But not perfection. . .

One of my favorite discs. Has all the proper elements for a great techno album. Approximatly 80% of the tracks are kicken'. I've owned the album since it's release and still like to spin it! It ozzes with passion, ambience, and contains some clever rhythems. I agree with W. Hackett, every Techno freak should own this one!

    Pump it up!!!

Defninitely a heart ''starter.'' Though a couple of the tunes slow things down a bit the bottom line is that this CD is a must have for Techno junkies.
