What an amazing wealth of information!  After reading this book, I not only have the guidelines and tools that I need to get started, I have the confidence that I needed to actually make the switch to vegetarianism! I am looking forward to a great start to a healthier lifestyle.

My repertoire of vegetarian recipes is getting stale. This cookbook was a good buy because I need easy, quick recipes and not more complicated ones. Things like chickpea curry and the BBQ veggie sandwich are right up my alley right now. I'm looking forward to trying some of the desserts, too.

Are you thinking of becoming a vegetarian? If so, you need this book in your life. It is simply filled with facts that will only serve to reinforce your reasoning for joining this movement. I legitimately never knew the dangers behind my diet. I have friends who are vegetarians and everything seemed to make sense about their entire existence. I mean my friends and their vitality was made so sure that it shook me and made me reconsider my own diet. This book brought me great points about the vegetarian lifestyle and I would advise any person on planning to become a vegetarian to read this book.

Although I’m not a convert to Vegetarianism, these wonderful dishes can be an exciting part of a healthy diet anyway. I particularly like the Raw Food, Fruit-Focused, and Breakfast Recipes. Everything seems so fresh and delicious, and I feel inspired to tinker around with some of these recipes and experiment with what’s available in my kitchen already. Cooking is about exercising your creativity, and the fun and entertainment value of playing in the kitchen, just as much as eating the end result.

If you’ve ever even considered the possibility of giving up meat and living a vegetarian lifestyle, then this book is definitely one you will want to read first. It will be your go to book for recopies, but it’s much more than that. I really liked that they explained the detriments of a meat diet and the benefits of a vegetarian diet. I will most likely you this book for the easy to follow recipes, but there are so many of them from lunch to dinner to deserts. An A+ - thanks for the great information.

I've been an on & off vegetarian for over 30 years, & wanted the latest info with the new grains and gluten free, & what seems to be a lot of new things coming to the market. If you are a newbie or a seasoned vegetarian or vegan this book is for all of you. The recipes are great.

In addition to a lot of great information on the kinds of, reasons for, ways to go transition to vegetarian there are a ton of recipes that would be interesting in anybody’s diet. I was impressed by the great juices included in the breakfast section, the variety of ethnic recipes included, and the raw food chapter. I am not ready to exclude meat from my diet, but I am ready to try some of these ideas to expand my horizons.

I am a new vegetarian and I don't know how to feed myself! I am also a tween so I can't cook thatwell, plus my parents aren't going to chge their meal plans just for me. Do you know any good tips, tricks, or recipes? I need answers quick!!

I was interested in buying this book. But you have 30+ out of 50 pages of chaper headings & a list of recipes. Not even a single sample. For a book that is for beginners this book isn't very inviting or enticing. One star is to much

The Table of Contents is thorough and makes it easy to find things, but "Part 1" is just info about vegetarianism. Not only may that get annoying for those who just want the recipes, but it could turn off those who want the recipes but do like meat (it gets a little preachy). The start of the recipes section has a 2 week meal plan to help beginners get started, which is a nifty addition. All directions are simple and easy to follow, but some bits seem unnecessary (ie: "put a pitcher under your juicer"). Some recipes are only there to add bulk (for example, "frozen banana pudding" just says to stick frozen bananas in the juicer with a bowl underneath). I liked that the non-dessert recipes each had an introduction telling you why the various ingredients in that dish are good for your health and that there was a small glossary and resources section in the back. My problems with the book were that the majority of the breakfast section was oatmeal and smoothies and the "main dishes" included a ton of pasta and rice and also that there were no pictures in the entire thing (particularly a let down for the desserts). Not terrible, but not the greatest.

Great range of recipes for cooks of all skill levels. Some sound delicious and I will be trying them out on my family. Packed full of information that can be a bit difficult to read if you have already decided to become vegetarian/vegan. Also includes a full menu to use as a guide and many references.

I think that Vegetarian Cookbook for beginners is a good book,but not just for the recipes. It has suggestions on how to jump start a vegan diet too.

The Vegetarian Cookbook for Beginners is a great guide for anyone looking for a healthier way of eating and living, but make sure you know your way around the kitchen.     There are several different types of vegetarianism, so you are not limited in your dietary choices.  The recipes are interesting, nutritious, and the couple that I tried, delicious.

I have always liked vegetables and have often thought about trying a strictly vegetarian diet. Although I knew eating this way could be beneficial, I wasn't fully aware of the facts before reading the Vegetarian Cookbook for Beginners published by Rockbridge Press. This book provides a lot of details, some great research, and list of benefits of eating vegetarian, and most importantly, some very delicious recipes. I purchased the book with the intention of commiting to a vegetarian diet at least on a part time basis, and after reading it, I have begun removing foods from my shelves and grocery list based on the information found here. Very well presented, inspiring, and filled with real-world advice, not just a lot of statistical information. I can't promise myself I will continue to eat as a vegetarian, but thanks to this starter book, I feel more like I will be eating vegetables on a more regular basis and I know some very good reasons for it.

The recipes in this book do a good job in providing protein options and ideas besides meat, which is the hardest part about cooking vegetarian meals. I also found the grocery lists with what to replace non-vegetarian items with very helpful.

This is a great book for those beginning a vegetarian way of living and eating. A complete discussion on the merits of embarking on a new lifestyle is given in great detail, from the basic reasons to how to put together your kitchen and how to shop for food. It goes without mentioning that there are many, many recipes that all sound too good to miss.

The Vegetarian Cookbook for Beginners is a very supportive companion for the cautious newcomer to Vegetarianism. Reading as a how-to guide, the book opens with several chapters on the history of Vegetarianism, its place in Western society, ethnic variations, and dos and don’ts of constructing a meat-free diet. The back half is where the recipes live, and most will find the selections comprehensive if somewhat unadventurous.

Wonderful recipes!  These recipes are much more than simple salads.  I love the use of a food processor and dehydrator in so many of them. And the soups and dressings are so creative! (Cannot wait to try the Watermelon Gazpacho, Chilled Avocado Soup and Sweet Apple Dressing!)  I was also pleased with the entire section devoted to Raw Dishes (like raw stuffed mushrooms - perfect for a party!). Recipes aside, the glossary and list of ingredients to be watchful of (collagen, keratin, gelatin, some food coloring, etc!)  are very helpful too.

This is the best book offering an easier transition into a healthier diet and vegetarian lifestyle. The Vegetarian Cookbook even offers recipes for each meal of the day; great for beginners and those looking to try something new.  It points out great meat substitution in your meals to keep you honest to the vegetarian diet and lifestyle.

The book “Vegetarian Cookbook for Beginners” is great for people, who are beginning the transition from a meat-eating diet to a vegetarian diet. The book offers a guide to the first week of a vegetarian diet, which is easy to prepare and will not overwhelm new vegetarians. I love the recipes for butter, jams, sauces, cakes and cookies. If eating healthier is your new year resolution, you have a great starting point in this book.

The recipes in the cook are amazing even though I am not a vegetarian. If you are planning to switch over to a vegetarian lifestyle then this book is for you. It gives you step by step meal plans to follow and explains in detail what it means to be a vegetarian and how to get started. There are hundreds of delicious recipes to try out and I definitely recommend this book to anybody how wants to eat a healthy diet.

This book provides a detailed overview of vegetarianism.  From the different types of vegetarians to reasons why people choose to eat this way, this book covers everything. It doesn't get too graphic about animal cruelty which might turn some people off nor does it get too preachy. It also has lists to help you stock your pantry and lots of recipes. It has a 14 day plan which is something that I always appreciate when starting a new way of eating. I find it easier to get started when everything is already planned out for me.

Easy recipes and brief intro to what vegetarianism is. If you are looking for more information rather than recipes, look elsewhere. But the food is GREAT and the ingredients easy to find. Includes sauces and condiments, which is a bonus. Good investment.

Amazing and tasty recipes, great 2-week plan to get you started and all packed in this little book. For those of you skeptical about changing to Vegetarian, try some of these recipes first. I can tell you from experience, they are easy to fix and taste awesome. Read the different classifications of Vegetarianism. You will be sure to find one that fits you; and the best part is, you don’t have to completely give up on animal products. I still eat dairy, but incorporate more of the green leafy stuff to improve my energy levels. Put down the meat and save your heart.
