Somehow I’ve managed to skip book three in the Buckin Bullriders series. So I will have a review for that coming up in the next several weeks. That’s Marco’s book, and definitely not one to miss! But this week I had an interview with Cassandra Carr for Velocity, and now here is my review for Paolo’s book.
Before I started this book I wasn’t sure how I was going to like Paolo. I mean, sure, the cover is awesome, and the model is perfection. But an Italian bullrider? Do they even exist? I’m sure they must, but it’s just not what I think of when I think of my favorite sexy cowboys. And then I had “met” Marco in previous books of this series, and he always struck me as cocky. So my bar was not as high as it had been for Conner or Brady.
Stupid, stupid Liz.
I read this book in one night. It was a nonstop reading marathon. I should have known better.
Paolo is Marco’s younger brother, and he followed Marco to the states when he was a teen. Now he is 23, and not entirely sure where is future will be. I found Paolo to be this sweet and caring guy. He wasn’t shy, but he wasn’t cocky. He has a quietness to him that really draws you to him. But then on top of that he is young and sexy, and Italian – so he’s got the accent all locked up. And he is seductive in the way he acts and speaks, especially when he meets Savannah.
What was she doing having careless flings with cowboys when she should be looking for someone to settle down with?
Paolo reached for her hand and smiled at her, and she knew why she was with him.
He made her happy.
Savannah has come to the bullriding circuit because she is writing her college thesis on adrenalin junkies. She’s not looking for romance, but when Paolo starts showing interest she thinks she may as well go for it and have a tour fling. She’s no “buckle bunny”, a term the riders use for bull riding groupies, but no one said fun isn’t allowed! I liked her. Savannah struck me as intelligent and caring. There were times I felt she might be a little pushy, but it’s only because she grew to quickly care for Paolo. She also was generous and a great addition to the Buckin' Bullriders family.
To me, this story was about romance, hope, possibility and new beginnings. And there was of course some sexy action between Paolo and Savannah that positively made my kindle sweat. I thought this was a fantastic pairing between the two characters, they balanced each other perfectly. Where one was nervous and anxious, one was brave and explorative. When one would get scared about the status of their burgeoning relationship, the other was there to hold on tight.
If you are a fan of Cassandra, this is definitely a book to read as soon as you can. She definitely held on for the whole 8 seconds in this book, and I’m positive you will love it as much as I did.

Paolo is a twenty-three year old bull rider on the circuit, along with his older brother, Marco. Lately, more losses than wins are eating away at Paolo’s confidence in his abilities. The numerous injuries and being supported by his brother financially are all taking a toll on him. When he meets Savannah who is joining the tour to do research for her thesis, Paolo will have to seriously reassess his future especially when he begins to fall for her.
Savannah isn’t looking for love, but her research leads her right into the arms of the sexy Italian bull rider who charms her with his good looks and humble demeanor, but he’s also a “cunning linguist” (you’ll understand what I mean if you pick up this book). When his life goes though huge changes, she wants to be there for him and support him, but she won’t stand in the way of his happiness, even if that means having to give him up. When her time on tour is up, they will have either found a way to make it work, or they will part ways forever. Which one will it be?
I really liked this story. The plot was sweet and hot all at the same time. I haven’t read the previous books in this series, so I’m not sure if Marco and Paolo have made an appearance before, but I didn’t feel like I was missing any pertinent background information to fully enjoy this story. I loved the characters in this story. They could have all been really cliched to add extra drama, but I’m glad the author stayed away from that. Instead she chose to make them a tight-knit group that seemed to care and look out for one another. Paolo is often referred to as the younger brother who has always been in Marco’s shadow. Normally a situation like that could easily breed sibling rivalry and resentment, but there was none of that. I really liked all the uplifting and encouraging moments the two brothers shared. Paolo is young and at a crossroads in his life, and I felt his struggle with feeling inadequate around Savannah though his thoughts. Most of the time my heart just broke for him. Savannah was a great heroine and a great partner for him. Though she was a little older than him, I felt they were pretty well matched. As an independent woman she knew what she wanted. They didn’t come across as childish characters who were too afraid to fall in love, nor did they intentionally push each other away.
Overall, I really got into this story, but it did feel like it dragged in some parts due to Marco’s repetitive musings about what he should do with his life. But since that is what this book centers around, it wasn’t surprising to have it brought up so often. Lots of scorching hot love scenes. Be warned, anything that a couple in lust could do, they did – oral sex, anal sex, sex in the shower, sex in a public place, sex in the bedroom, sex in the kitchen, … phew. Ms Carr knows how to write excellent scenes. As if that wasn’t enough, when Paolo started uttering words to Savannah in Italian, I was a goner. An added bonus was the humor laced throughout. Savannah had a few great lines. And even though this is a series, I loved the ending. No ridiculous cliffhanger. Just a good old fashioned HEA. I will definitely read this book again and again.
If you enjoy a story with a sweet romantic undercurrent, a lot of scorching hot (every-which-way) sex, and a tatted hero who tells you to come in Italian, you will want to read this.

What an incredible love story. Cassandra Carr’s next installment in her Buckin’ Bull Rider series is takes us into the circuit again, however, this time Paolo is trying to decide whether he wants to continue bull riding. Enter Savannah who is doing a thesis and will be following tour for a while. Paolo and Savannah give in to their lust, but it wasn’t only about lust, they really cared about each other. She encourages him to try going to school, that he can do just about anything he sets his heart to, and she secretly hopes that she may still be in his life when he makes that decision.
What a big step he took when he quit the tour, but he also felt like he needed to step away from his brother Marco’s shadow and not to rely on him or a burden to him. Great to see brothers being so close.
Let’s not forget how awesome Ms. Carr is at writing smexy scenes, oh my they were great. How could you not swoon when having Italian spoken to you during those intimate moments, whew…is it hot in here!
If you haven’t started reading any of the stories in the series, let me tell you, you are missing out. Plus you will get to ogle the cover for this book over and over…he is to die for!

I want to start off by saying how much I love the Buckin' Bull Rider series by author Cassandra Carr and her latest one, Velocity, just proved why I keep wanting more. She wrote such an incredibly loving story, not only between Paolo and Savannah but she also showed the incredible love between two brothers who would do anything for one another. Paolo D'Allesandro has always lived in the shadow of his older brother, Marco, the more experienced bull rider when he meets Savannah Harrington, the grad student, who is following the bull riding tour while working on a thesis. Paolo is immediately smitten with Savannah and they embark on a "fling" that turn into so much more. Paolo realizes that he does not like bull riding and that he only followed in Marco's footstep when they fled their home in Italy. Savannah helps Paolo sort out his feelings and encourages him to find the thing that would make him happy. I really enjoyed their relationship because not only did they have incredible chemistry together, Paolo and Savannah actually had meaningful conversations about the present and future. I adored Paolo, who was sweet, tender and sexy as hell, especially when he spoke those Italian endearments and struggled with expressing his thoughts and feelings in both English and Italian; I swooned each time Paolo spoke. What woman could resist? I really liked Savannah who complemented Paolo really well and was always there for him when he needed her. She always provided encouragement when he felt down on himself and showed him that he was smarter than he gave himself credit for. I admired the courage it took for Paolo to walk away from bull riding and seek the unknown. I rooted for them right from the beginning and could not get enough of their super hot sex scenes. I also loved how close the brothers were and the friendship between Savannah and Natalie, Marco's girlfriend. They were really supportive of one another and I loved that there was no ego or jealousy involved. Another fabulous story by this wonderful author and I'm always begging her for more. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Cassandra Carr has become an author I can rely on to entertain and with Velocity she has me dying to read the previous books in this series as I instantly fell in love with this one. Ms. Carr has again brought us into the rugged world of bull riding with this fourth book in the Buckin' Bull Riders series. Paolo is the younger brother of the accomplished Marco and the two of them set out from Italy to make names for themselves on the bull riding circuit. Marco has been succeeding but Paolo's left frustrated, constantly left in Marco's shadow. He's been sensing it's time for a change but it's not until he meets the smart and accomplished Savannah that he really starts reevaluating his life as he wants to make himself more worthy of a relationship with her. When the two meet the sparks immediately fly and they engage in a combustible relationship between the sheets that they both hope leads to more.
This book isn't all about sex though as the very real issues that plague Paolo are brought to the forefront. He's lost and confused about what he wants to do in life. He wants his brother and family proud of him but isn't sure how to go about making something of himself separate from his brother. I ached for him through his constant indecision and need to be something more. He's immensely charming and suave and I liked the realism of his problems speaking English showing up occasionally. When he spoke in his native Italian though, boy howdy, was he especially hot! I also liked Savannah and the support she gave to Paolo. She's smart but never made Paolo feel inferior. She supported him every step of the way, never pushing him, just being there to listen and encourage. It made their relationship even more believable as they clicked not only in the bedroom but out as well.
Ms. Carr has created another winner with two immensely likable characters dealing with real life issues in a reasonable way while nicely retaining some super sexy interactions. Not having read the other books in this series in no way diminished my enjoyment of Velocity. It instead has heightened my desire to read the others and keeps Ms. Carr on my list of go-to authors.

Velocity while book 4 in the Buckin' Bull Riders series is a stand alone novel and can be read as such.
Paolo D’Allesandro followed his brother, Marco, from Italy after a family argument led him to come to the US and become a bull rider. Paolo has never been as good as Marco but he has always felt that it was important to stay together as a family.
Savannah Harringtion is no buckle bunny she is a grad student working towards her degree in Neuroscience by interviewing bull riders. It was never in her schedule to fall in love but the she met the sexy Italian bull rider that messed with all her best laid plans.
Cassandra Carr gives us a great story that last a bit longer than 8 seconds but is nearly as exciting. I loved the way Ms. Carr was able to work in Paolo talking dirty in Italian and the way that Savannah doesn't jump right into sex with Paolo he has to take a little time with her. We are treated to a truly wonderful story about a man finding himself and finding the self confidence he needs to go after what he really wants in this life. I love that Marco and Paolo are so devoted to each other and the secondary characters of the other bull riders give us fascinating insight into some of the personalities of the men who ride wild animals for fun and profit.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
