"The used vehicle marketplace is less giving and less forgiving than it's ever been before. Astute, investment-minded management processes are essential for today's dealers to survive and thrive," says Pollak.

Meet the Author

Dale Pollak's career in the automotive industry has spanned more than two decades. As a dealer, consultant, entrepreneur, and speaker, Pollak has helped many successful automotive dealers in America make dramatic improvements in their pre-owned operations. Pollak's unique vision about how to improve used vehicle operations was shaped as much by his 13 years as a Chicagoland Cadillac dealer as it was by his visual impairment. Unaffected by the aesthetic qualities of his inventory, Pollak was able to analyze pre-owned vehicles solely from an investment-minded perspective. This viewpoint was the foundation for vAuto, Inc. the technology company he founded in 2005. vAuto provides dealerships with a better way to price, appraise and manage their pre-owned inventories. Prior to vAuto, Pollak helped build Digital Motorworks, Inc. from its inception to its successful acquisition in 2002. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Indiana University, a law degree from DePaul University's College of Law, and is a four-time winner of the American Jurisprudence Award.

Accelerate Your Knowledge of the Car Business

I enjoyed velocity and while it is written with car dealers in mind, I learned a lot about the car business and how it works. Dale obviously has tremendous experience in this field and the stories he uses to explain his position are entertaining and educational. The Internet has changed the car business forever and this book shows where it is going from here.

    Great Help

whether you are in the biz or just starting, this book offers great insight as to how the used car industry works. You'll find great insight as to how a used car department could, and should, be run. Best book I have ordered so far as to the intricacies of the used car business. If you are in the used car business, you will see what you, or your managers, are doing wrong. In my case, it was A LOT of things...The used car business does not have to be what the majority of people conceive it to be. If you honestly want to help your clients, this book will educate you as to how to apprach each car on the lot and how to act in a consultative manner to each of your clients. Seriously.

Dale Pollak is truly a visionary for auto business. His book gives you the mindset and introduces you to tools that accelerate your learning curve for inventory management and online advertising.

We spend 100% of marketing budget online and have seen increases in sales and profitability since becoming a digital dealership. Our competitors are closing their doors, laying off employees, and cutting expenses across the board. We're thriving!

This logic is not applicable to the real world

The ideas sound great, too bad they don't work in the real world. I should know, I read the book, tried it, and lost money by commoditizing my dealership's (former) assets.

Just another outside 'expert' formerly in the auto industry trying to sell books.
