This is the western novel that might have resulted from a collaboration between Thorne Smith and Walt Kelly - with input from Lewis Carrol. One of the funniest books of any kind that I've read in years. A cattle drive from Waco to Dodge City should be a simple thing, but for Wayne Denton and Roy Lee McAllister it becomes an odyssey of off-beat characters: an apprentice prostitute; a confused Texas Ranger; a pyromaniac cook; an agreeable horse thief and a ten-year-old gunfighter. And at the end of the trail awaits the woman of Roy Lee's dreams - and Wyatt Earp's gang of gunfighters. When Wayne tries to defend the honor of a prostitute it leads to the ultimate Old West showdown. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
