    Velveteen Bible

Velveteen Bible is a palm size bible. It's very wonderful for little children and those who are always on the go but wants to devote themselves to God.

The bible is furry and comes with a cute little treasure box, and I like it very much as it's small and easy to carry along everywhere. There's nothing not to like about this bible, except perhaps that the fonts are too small to read. But that is not an issue to me.

This wonderful bible will make a good gift at Christening or birthdays.

I rate this 5 stars. I received this bible from Thomas Nelson Publisher. I was not compensated in any ways for writing this review.

    The Velveteen Bible

The Velveteen Bible is a very smug, furry little bible that fits in the palm of your hands. With this bible, you can carry the word of God with you easily in your pocket anywhere you go. This Bible comes with a cute treasure box that will allow you to safekeep the Bible.

Being a bible, I did not read all of the contents, but I intend to do so every night before I go to sleep.

Children will definitely love this Bible, and it makes a wonderful gift for every believer, young or old.

I rate this bible 5 stars. I received a copy of this bible from Thomas Nelson Publisher as a part of their reviewer program, and I was not compensated in any ways for writing this review. I was also not required to write a positive review for this Bible.

The Velveteen Bible - Product Review

"The Velveteen Bible" from Thomas Nelson is a special edition Bible in New Kings James Version for children. When I say children, one needs consider their age group before nabbing it for them. This Bible is not a typical Children's bible. It is not fully made of pictures (as many Children's Bibles are). Rather it is made of beautiful velvet cover and three sets of color illustration of animals in between certain chapters.

This Bible contains all the 66 books in its original form without any omission. It is not in story book form or summary form. The Bible is hard bound and is compact. The font size of the words in the entire Bible is relatively small and similar to most other Bible and may not be suitable for very young kids. Going by the features, I believe that this Bible may be suitable for children of the age ten and above. Parents and elders gifting this Bible to children must consider their age factor before finalizing their choice. In my opinion, this Bible will not be perfect fit for children of all ages.

The Christ's speech in the New Testament is in red color. At the end of the Bible, there's a yearly reading plan which is a good addendum.

Thomas Nelson gives introduction to this Bible as "a sweet addition to the Tommy Nelson Baby/Toddler Bible line, using an adorable image of a flocked velvet bunny. Inspired by Baby's First Bible with the adorable fuzzy duck cover, this new offering for little ones, The Velveteen Bible features soft fur and a fuzzy tail! Inside, the New King James Version scripture is accompanied by whimsical images of bunnies and other baby animals, colorful borders, and lovely sentiments from the scriptures. The Bible is packaged in a keepsake treasure box."

    Three out of five stars.

    Cute Kids Bible

    About The Book.

A sweet addition to the Tommy Nelson Baby/Toddler Bible line, using an adorable image of a flocked velvet bunny.

The Bible is packaged in a keepsake treasure box.

Give the Velveteen Bible as that extra special gift for baptisms, christenings, baby dedications, birthdays, or any gift-giving occasion in your little one's life. Make it sweet by personalizing the presentation page and family record section. Your child will enjoy reading God's word while being delighted by the adorable animals playfully decorating the full-color pages throughout.

    My Thoughts.

When I saw this book, I jumped at the chance to review it as I'm always keeping my eye open for good kids books I can share with my niece.
This is a full version of the Bible in the New King James version, a red letter edition with cute animal illustrations to key Bible verses and even a yearly reading plan. It's a hard back version and comes in a keepsake box. It also comes with a yearly reading plan.

While this Bible seems to be made for small children, I see it more as something they can take along with them to Sunday School and I'm not sure how much they will be able to read from it until they are a bit older because of the small size (4 1/2? x 6 1/2? approx.) and letters. But knowing little children, I can still see them having fun feeling they have a Bible of their own just like their older brothers and sisters and parents.

I look forward to giving this to my niece as a gift and just see her now carrying it around proudly, leafing through it and showing it off to all.

    Sweet First Bible

There's nothing like receiving your own Bible as child. I still remember receiving my own and to this very day I still hold it near and dear. Though both my children are a bit to young for their own Bibles right now, I'm on the look out for very special ones that they can hold near and dear just like I do with my own.

I recently was given the opportunity to review The Velveteen Bible from Tommy Nelson Publishers. And my search for my daughter's first Bible is now officially over. I know when she is the right age, that she'll very much so enjoy this special Bible. This Bible is recommend for children ages 4-8 years old.

This Bible is not condensed in the least bit, just so people know. I thought it might have been but it's not. The version of the Word is New King James Version which is my preferred version to read. It's great for us that the whole family will be in the same translation when it comes to devotional time.

The words of Christ are in read and at the back of the Bible there's a yearly reading plan which is a great addition. Included inside the Bible are beautiful illustrations that feature key verses to take to heart.

This hardcover child sized Bible comes in a special keepsake box that has fuzzy features the same as the Bible has.

Overall I think this Bible would make a wonderful first Bible that can be treasured for a lifetime. I can't help think that with Easter coming up soon it would be a good time to gift it in also reminding our kids why we really celebrate the holiday.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of The Velveteen Bible through the Book Sneeze book reviewers program, in exchange for my honest review.

    A Toddler Treasure

What little person wouldn't be thrilled to have their very own Bible to tuck under their arm to take to church with them? I was actually expecting this to be a somewhat condensed version of the Bible designed specifically for toddlers, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it is the entire Bible, both Old and New Testaments in the New King James Version, with words of Christ in red letters. The keepsake box is a wonderful addition to protect the Bible itself or to store other treasures or collections. I am very impressed with the quality of this Bible, and look forward to sharing it with one of my grandchildren. I received a complimentary copy through the Book Sneeze book reviewers program.

The Velveteen Bible-A Gift of Gods Word for Years to Come!

When I saw that this Bible was available for review, I was so excited to get it. My daughter Madison is 5 years old and I have been planning on buying her a new bible for church but haven't found one that I wanted to get yet. This beautiful Bible is well suited for her first Bible. I love the keepsake treasure box that she can store it in. She loves the pictures with the bible verses that are geared towards children, they are easy enough for her to remember and she can read most of them. This bible is in the NKJV. I prefer the KJV, but with her learning to read, it helps that the words are a bit easier for her to understand. This is one of my favorite reviews that I have done because not only did it brighten my daughters day, but it is going to be providing God's word to her for years to come!

Great heirloom bible for an older child

When I selected The Velveteen Bible as my latest selection for review from Thomas Nelson Publishers I was expecting a bible that my oldest daughter might be able to use as her personal copy.

When it arrived it was evident that this edition of the New King James Version bible was not suitable for my six year old girl!

It's a gorgeous bible with a flocked cover and beautiful storage box and it contains some of the most beautiful illustrations that I've ever seen in a children's book.

But it's a very traditional printing with extremely thin and fragile pages. The binding seems quite sturdy but the pages just would not hold up well to daily use by an inexperienced reader.

However, we have chosen this edition to be our daily scripture study bible! The girls are excited to have me reading it to them every morning and are ecstatic when I bring it out of its box for morning scripture study.

We've already read through much of the book of Genesis and I was surprised by how intently my six year old daughter was listening. She's a very energetic girl and was nearly mesmerized by my reading. I'm certain our family will enjoy our readings from this bible.

In addition to the beautiful illustrations it also has a very helpful guide in the back of the bible to assist you in scheduling your daily readings.

This edition is a very small version measuring about 6.75" x 4.5" and therefore the print is small. This small size would make it a good version for an older child as it would be easy to hold and not as heavy as some bibles. Unfortunately for this middle-aged mama, that means it comes with small print as well.

All in all, though, it's a very nice edition of a New King James Version bible and would be a great heirloom purchase for an older child patient enough to carefully turn the pages and care for this beautifully illustrated children's bible.
