‘I will survive,’ he promised the black silence. ‘I will survive and I will come back to haunt you. All of you ...’

It began like a page from the Kama Sutra; a beautiful French girl and her Indian lover locked in the white heat of illicit passion.

But Michel, the child of this illicit union is not wanted by anyone. Thrown out into the dangerous streets, he grows into a ferocious manhood in the alleys of wartime Saigon. He remembers every beating, and every betrayal. Possessed of a raw sexuality and the flair of a master criminal, he learns not only to survive, but to thrive in his pitiless world.

And the past is never forgotten. Twenty years later, in a quiet French suburb, a young French girl makes her way home to her apartment unaware of the eyes that are watching her, or the terrible secrets her parents have brought with them from a dark, colonial past.

Meanwhile, in Interpol headquarters, Captain Rene Budjinski tries to make sense of the stream of telexes that reach his desk in St Cloud from all over the world, a trail of blood that stretches from the backstreets of Bombay even to the boulevards of Paris.

Driven by an agenda of his own, he follows the serpentine trail from the neon streets of Bangkok to the ancient banks of the Ganges. He cannot imagine where that search will lead him, or the young woman who promises to help him.

And when the judge’s gavel cracks across a Delhi courtroom and the world waits for justice, Michel’s destiny will hang on one last ironic twist of fate ...

Meet the Author

Colin is the best selling author of more than twenty novels. Born in north London, he worked for many years in TV and radio and freelanced for many leading newspapers and magazines such as San Francisco Chronicle, Qantas inflight magazine and Playboy magazine. He has been a novelist for the last twenty years, with his work reaching best seller lists from Germany to Mexico, Australia to Romania, Spain to Brazil. He had published in many genres, historical epics such as HAREM and AZTEC and SILK ROAD, as well as historical thrillers such as ANASTASIA and the OPIUM series. Like many of his novels, VENOM is based on true life incidents.

He lived for many years near Margaret River in Western Australia, where he also worked for many years in the volunteer ambulance service. "I'd be at my desk typing, then thirty minutes later I'd be crawling into an overturned car. It was an unusual life"

He travels regularly to research his novels and his quest for authenticity led him to run with the bulls in Pamplona, pursue tornadoes across Oklahoma and black witches across Mexico, go cage shark diving in South Africa and get tear gassed in a riot in La Paz. He also completed a nine hundred kilometre walk of the camino in Spain.

Could not put this book down! This is the first time I've read a book by this author and it won't be the last. The book was so full of energy and I just fell in love with all the characters. I love the way the author deals with setting. I really felt like I was there. Great Read!

    highly recommended

it just proves the old adage that 'what goes around comes around.'
although the main character was dealt a rotten hand, abandoned by his mother for her selfish reasons, he uses his wile to survive but also to take advantage of women.
the last woman, who happens to be his sister, unbeknowst to her, has her revenge.
    gripping.
