A Traviata not to be missed - Callas at her Best!!

When you pair an opera treasure such as La Traviata with one of the greatest sopranos of all time.......the result is simply magic!! Vocal fireworks abound as Callas pours every ounce of energy into her portrayal of the ill-fated Violetta. From her explosive "Sempre Libera" to her heart wrenching "Addio del passato," one can hear La Divina at the height of her glory days.

Callas is accompanied by a cast that all opera lovers dream of, with high praise being given to the great Cesare Valletti. His Alfredo completes Callas' Violetta in such a way that one must hear it to believe it. His "De' miei bollenti spiriti" is one of the finest interpretations I have heard of this crowd pleasing aria. Both stars are phenomenal in the last act duet, "Parigi, o cara."

Although there are some slight sound issues with this recording, the remastering is extremely well done! This recording should be a staple in any opera lover's collection!!!
