Overview

Neither a flat-out retread nor a full-fledged progression, Version 2.0 is almost too accurate a title for Garbage's second album. Everything that made Garbage a success is here -- Shirley Manson's seductive strength, strong pop sensibility, a production that falls halfway between alternative rock and techno -- presented in a slightly newer form. Version 2.0 may be gilded with fresh drum loops and shiny, computerized production, but it lacks the thrilling immediacy of the debut. It isn't that Garbage's sound is no longer appealing -- it's that high-tech production has a tendency to make the songs sound the same. That was a problem with the debut as well, but it's discouraging to find that those flaws are repeated, not solved. Still, when Garbage pull it all together, the results are irresistible, and there are just enough moments on the album -- including "Special," "Push It," "Temptation Waits," and "I Think I'm Paranoid" -- to make it a successful follow-up, even if it isn't a brave step forward.

I think this album definetely has a pop edge to it, but it still contains the biting, angry-girl lyrics from the first album. I LOVE IT! This is going to be on your cd player for weeks on end because it really is THAT GREAT! Listen and enjoy for yourself!

Really rocking songs! Espeacially "I Think I'm Paranoid" and "Medication". Vocals are excellent! The last track "You Look So Fine" is a really beautiful ballad. It makes me cry...good work, Garbage!

Steve, Butch, Duke, and the gorgeous Shirley have once again brought forth another album that will go down in the ages. Version 2.0 sends out shocking sounds of gracious instruments. Titles like 'Wicked Ways', 'I Think I'm Paranoid', and 'Push It' show the lyrical power that Garbage is distributing on the Ep. While other tunes off the album ('Special', 'You Look So Fine', and 'Thirteen') reflect a softer side of the contemporary band. Garbage has really extended musical limits on Version 2.0 by all of the band's talents. If you enjoyed Garbage's self-titled album, then you must get the continuation of the pop band's most excavating work ever.

Something about this CD sings to my soul. I'm mostly a classic rock kind of girl but, when my friend turned me on to Version 2.0 I knew I had to have it. Very very deep.

This CD is GREAT! Right now I have ''push It'' stuck in my head! The Cd is so different than the first one, but its still just as good (and i LOVE the first one). Please get this CD!

I think this album is the best because it expresses openness of how she feels and if you are into alternative rock then Garbage could be a good for you to sample,if you like. My favorite song on this album is "When I grow up." She has a great voice.
