Versus Nurture is the first book I've read by Jonathan David Morris. Once I sat down to read this book, I was hooked. I could not put it down as I anxiously awaited knowing what would happen next. Be prepared to put your feet up, sit back and not be able to put this book down until you finish. It is not only well written, but written with detail that is most descriptive, giving you a visual to the lives of the characters in this story. I look forward to reading more by this new aspiring author. Mr. Morris - keep on writing!

The other morning I woke up at 5:30. It was too early to get out of bed but I knew right away that I wasn't going back to sleep.
As I tried to decide what to do with my day, I remembered I had purchased 'Versus Nurture' the night before. So, I fired up my favorite e Reader and started reading.
I actually read for three hours straight and didn't stop until I was finished. 'Versus Nurture" certainly isn't the longest book I've ever read (that would probably be something by Robert Jordan...or maybe Stephen King's 'The Stand') but I feel that the fact that I didn't get up and turn on the coffee or use the bathroom is testament to how much I enjoyed the story.
The characters are believable. I even went so far as to put familiar faces on them, as I pictured them in my mind.
The plot definitely kept things moving, and I found myself lost in the story. For probably an hour, my cat sat on top of me while I read. I didn't flinch...I just let her sit there.
Anyway, there's not much else a guy can say, other than, "Give it a read". I'd talk more about the story but I think it's better if I don't

First let me issue my deepest and most heartfelt apologies for having spent so much time being prohibitively busy that I had difficulties actually getting to Versus Nurture, which has turned out to be a positively riveting read. Don’t get me wrong, there were times that I was horribly confused during the course of the reading but it added quite well to the overall suspense of the storyline itself.
This is a story about choices and how those choices we make can and will have far reaching affects for good or ill. The storyline is not so much a reflection of what can be as what will be with a healthy dose of suspense and mystery liberally interspersed throughout. Don’t mistake me, I want to know more and I would gladly read a continuation of Versus Nurture because there’s more to this storyline than meets the eye. It’s a novella, but not a coffee table read because there are too many ways the story itself can go. The plot is rich with wildly imaginative and intelligent parallels and I was thoroughly engrossed before I quite knew what happened. It was an issue at first because I was forced to put it down and tend to the demands of motherhood. Kids don’t come with a pause button, blast it all and while I was busy with the family, the plotline wouldn’t leave my mind. I simply HAD to know what was going to happen next.
Giving Versus Nurture a star rating is going to present a bit of a problem. I’m torn between four stars and five because there was nothing that took away from the storyline; no punctuation problems or grammar difficulties and even I was taken completely aback by the ending. I love that, by the way. For a person who’s read as many books as I have, that I couldn’t predict what was going to happen in the end was refreshing and wonderful. I still think that what this story needs is a continuation because the author has established a conflict that hasn’t been resolved in my mind and it can’t end there. So it is, Mr. Morris, that I’m going to try to bribe you. Give me more to read that’s as interesting and engrossing as Versus Nurture and I’ll freely and gladly give you that fifth star. Are you up for the challenge? I know I am.
I have been following JDM's column for a few years and I have always enjoyed his view of the world. I was so excited to finally be able to read something he wrote that was not just "one page". I started the book while waiting to get blood work and couldn't put it down! I sat for 3 solid hours and devoured the book. The characters suck you into the story and the ending leaves you wanting to know more about what happens to them. Looking forward to his next book!!!!
