Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Beginning with the inside cover, this board book is crammed with pictures and words. It is 5:30 pm according to the clock and for this household that means it is dinnertime. The family of five is enjoying their meal in the kitchen. After dinner it is time to put away all the toys and then it is bath time which includes brushing ones teeth. This activity gives young readers a good look at the bathroom and the names of what they see. All the children are now ready for bed and mother reads a story while big brother reads on his own. The clock now shows that it is 7pm and everyone is tucked in and gets a goodnight kiss. The illustrations also provide a subtle story of their own since they depict a mixed race family and children of varying skin tones. It is an opportunity for children and caregivers to look, point and learn plenty of new words. Part of the "Usborne Very First Words" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
