This new book by John Greenfield follows on from his field handbook, Vetiver Grass - A Hedge Against Erosion. The latter was first published 15 years ago. Since that time the Vetiver Grass Technology has been used in more than 100 tropical and semi-tropical countries for a wide range of environmental and sustainable applications relating to soil erosion control, emabankment stabilization, landfil and mine reclamation, pollution control, flood control, and a host other other uses including medicinal and water quality improvement. The book describes the basic vetiver systems technology and its applications. It contains some excellent black and white photographs of various applications, and a range of useful references. The author now residing in New Zealand has spent his working life in tropical and semi tropical countries, and has a wide experience in agronomy and conservation. He knows what he is writing about, because he has done it, and done it successfully. The book should be read by anyone interested in looking for low cost and reliable solutions in the field oof soil conservation and land satbilization that work and are environmentally friendly!
