Victor Vito represented a significant step ahead in instrumental ambition for Laurie Berkner. Her first two albums used very limited production, consisting primarily of simple acoustic guitar and piano parts. Those records seemed to be fairly straightforward recorded versions of the songs Berkner wrote for her preschool music classes. But every song on this third effort is imaginatively arranged and given a far more intricate and full sound than anything on the preceding releases. It's not so much that Berkner has added a lot of new instruments -- though she makes extensive use of bass guitar, background vocals, and percussion -- but she and her colleagues have clearly invested a lot more energy and, judging by the improved sound and mix quality, money into preparing these recordings. Berkner's songwriting also seems a little more sophisticated this time around inasmuch as that word can reasonably be applied to toddler music. Her guitar parts are more adventurous and her colorful nonsense stories are perhaps a little better married to the catchy melodies. Several tunes seem destined to be Berkner classics. The title track is an irresistibly weird sort of jump-rope song inspired by, of all things, the artist's accountants. "The Goldfish" is an almost Seuss-esque song about fish doing things that fish don't do. Victor Vito is a bright and beautiful creation, and clearly the strongest of Berkner's early offerings.

    My child is in love with Laurie

    It dosen't get any better than this! Your child will sing, clap and hum along for hours. I love listening to my child giggle in the back seat while we play this cd.

    Love this CD!

    My children, 3 and 7, love this CD. I myself like to listen to it also. I will be buying the rest of her CDs. If you have children, this a must have CD for your collection. The tunes are really catchy and easy to learn.

    One of the best children's CDs we own!

    Laurie Berkner is fantastic! Victor Vito is a great CD! As parents, we're pretty selective about the music and tv our son is exposed to. So we were thrilled to discover Laurie Berkner! Her songs are wholesome, meaningful, fun, and goofy! I (an adult) totally enjoy this cd! Oh, and my 2 year old son loves it, too! I would highly recommend it!

    Lollie Shakes, Grooves and Wiggles

    My 5month-old daughter heard this at a Bubbles Academy class and she giggled and disregarded her tasty thumb as we sang along and danced with this music. This cd is fun for everyone to sing and dance with. It's so funny and so alive.

    One of the best children's artist

    I purchased this CD after my daughter showed how much she LOVED the skits in between her favorite Noggin shows. Now everytime I play the songs, she sings, dances and does actions along with them, and runs to the TV and says she wants to see the lady. I plan to purchase the rest of her CDs. Laurie and Hap Palmer are my daughters favorite artists. Granted, not all parents will enjoy her music, but its for the kids, and the enjoy it!! (i most definatly enjoy singing and dancing to her music!!)

    Fabulous!

    I teach pre-school. The children ask for us to put on the music--they say, "We want Laurie" and they want to hear this CD!

    Nice Change!

    My 2 1/2 year old son received this CD for Christmas and loves it! The songs are original and easy to learn. He loves to sing along and I find him singing these songs throughout the day as he is playing. He likes Raffi also, but this is really a nice change...for both of us.
