Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Overwhelmingly detailed, this essential source for all research libraries with an art or art history collection is not for pleasure reading. Compiled by James of the National Art Library, the project was originally designed to catalog all publications of the V&A. The scope of the project grew, and thus we find the most comprehensive bibliographic reference source of its kind published by a major art museum. In addition to fully documenting the V&A's exhibition schedule and publications history, this title also includes a section on "Publications Relating to but Not Published by the Victoria and Albert Museum." There are also name, title, and subject indexes. The introduction includes a concise outline of the V&A itself, clarifying its various subdivisions and satellites. Detailed keys to usage are included as well. Much of this information is now available online, but this invaluable book will serve serious art researchers well.--Jennifer L.S. Moldwin, Detroit Inst. of Arts Lib.
