Overview

Low cost video equipment has become a game changer for the backyard astronomer as without breaking the bank they can not only image the various planets, moon and sun (with proper filters). However also do real science to do things such as make astrometry measurements of double stars, perform detailed timings of occultation’s of planets and stars, photometry of brighter variable stars, or even hunt for Transient Lunar Phenomenon (TLP). In fact you could say the sky is the limit with regards to what you can do with some simple video kit and a modest telescope as this affordable technology brings to the backyard amazing capabilities which were unheard of only a few years ago.

Here is where Video Astronomy 101 Questions Answered (there is actually a few more we tossed in as an added bonus) shines as it’s written by a video enthusiast from his hands on learning while getting up to speed with this technology. While there are other books out there, this one gets right to the heart of the matter to provide you the new or even seasoned user practical hands on advice including how to connect a camera to your telescope to what filters to use for planetary imaging. In addition this book is packed with hyperlinks allowing the reader to quickly and easily get more information on various topics simply by touching the word.

Whether you intend to use video technology to set up a public viewing night where you are projecting the wonders of the night sky on a big screen television, or seeking to make astrometric measurements of double stars. You will find those and many how and about style questions answered in this book making it a great cloudy night resource.

Meet the Author

The author, Joe Campbell, is an experienced world traveler and fine arts photographer whose passions extend from capturing the fleeting light of our own sun as its final rays grace a mountain top in a far off land to the night sky overhead.
When not spending time chasing the ultimate terrestrial shot or collecting photons late at night when the rest of the neighborhood is fast asleep, he can be found in his workshop; building that next new-new thing to improve his craft, or in front of the keyboard, clicking away as he writes about it.
To this end, several of his projects have been noted “how-to stories” in national astronomical publications.  Additionally, he has also penned several project books involving astronomy as well as terrestrial travel photography to assist the do-it yourselfer photographer to get more from their gear as well as the experience.

many typos and misspelled words. was only mildly useful, maybe 5 out of the 101... if you know the slightest about astrophotography this is a waste of time just google your question. That said for $1.99 it kills time on a cloudy night if you have nothing better to do.
