This is one of my favorite books. Too bad Joseph Coggs, Miss Read, Amy and James, Mr. Willett, the Partridges, and even the grouchy Mrs. Pringle (and all of Miss Read's Fairacre inhabitants) aren't real. I just love them. There need to be more feel-good books like those. Too many books nowadays are full of sex, or violence, or tragic illness. Miss Read's books are a breath of fresh air in the hectic, overstimulating, tragic modern world.
