    Highly recommended!

I discovered an older hardcover copy of this on our school library's shelves while weeding and preparing for automation of the media center. What a find! The insight into the details of Christ's crucifiction, as well as the reactions of those who watched or were involved with Jesus in some way, give the reader a whole new understanding of this pivotal event in history. My 6th graders were deeply moved by this story. A good lesson on acceptance and treatment of people with physical or other differences as well. It's a shame this is no longer available in a hardcover edition; ours is worn and the paperback I purchased will not hold up well to library use. It is no longer lost on the shelves!

Seeing Jesus in his own times

This encounter with Christ draws you nearer to him through the life of Vinegar Boy. The historical accuracy puts you in the time and place with awe and inspiration. You will not want to put this book down. I assigned this to my fifth grade (Christian School) class for their book report and they all had it done and turned in before it was due. Their reviews were insightful and spiritual, and left them wanting more. I highly recommend this book.

    Heart-Touching Encounter With Christ

The Vinegar Boy depicts the life of a little boy who dips the sponge into myrrhh-laden vinegar for the men who are crucified. A birth-mark resulted in the boy's abandonment to the Roman troops. This story presents the most heart-wrenching depiction of Christ's crucifixion as the boy draws close to Christ while seeking a miracle for himself, as well.
