Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"Scott-Goodman features more than 32 American vineyards in her cookbook, which simplifies food-and-wine matching through easy-to-follow recipes and general pairing guidelines. The 60 recipes, including such dishes as pan-seared duck, with red wine and orange, ginger-soy chicken wings, and risotto with broccoli rabe and parmesan, are accompanied by wine suggestions from the vintners themselves. Vignettes on each winery and notes on the most popular wines are included, along with more than 100 photos."
- The Sommelier Journal

"A great, accessible volume of basic, foolproof recipes, using recognizable ingredients and simple preparations...Each plate is paired with a wine, of course; where this book stands out is in providing price points.  The recipes are coupled with three wines, each with a different dollar range, making it easy for the budget-minded to appropriately pair, and alternatively, the cook with a cellar to showcase something that has been put away for a special occasion."
--Oregon Wine Press

"Barbara Scott-Goodman's new Vineyard Cookbook allows you to pick a dish and the perfect wine at the same time...The pages are sprinkled with interesting features about many of the country's most unique wineries. The recipes are grouped by season, making it easy to pull off a sublime meal several times a year. Let Barbara Scott-Goodman's Vineyard Cookbook inspire your next dinner party."
--Anthony Dias Blue, The Blue Lifestyle Minute

"The magnificent photographs by Colin Cooke, Kirk Irwin, and Wes Walker bring to life the majesty of wine country from Santa Ynez Valley to Columbia Valley in the West and from Virginia to the Finger Lakes in the East. When coupled with mouthwatering images of food, this coffee table book is fresh and easy. Expect its pages to accumulate stains from frequent use in the kitchen. What better fate for a recipe book?"
--WineCountryMinute.com

"A tasty collection of more than 60 seasonal-driven recipes meant to match wines from 32 talented American winemakers...Scott-Goodman helpfully brackets her wine suggestions by price for each dish, too, so readers can use the book no matter how well the economy is doing."
--Santa Barbara Independent

"A recipe collection sure to appeal to connoisseurs. Offering a tour of thirty-two outstanding American vineyards as well as sixty delectable recipes for all seasons, The Vineyard Cookbook is a treasury ideal for any wine lover...Highly recommended."
--The Bookwatch

"The Vineyard Cookbook is perfect for the wine and food lover who enjoys crafting special dining experiences. The menus are easily executed and luscious, the choice of wine pairings varied, and the beautiful photography makes it all so appealing."
--Margaret Duckhorn, Founder of Duckhorn Wine Company (California)

"Let's be honest...most books on cuisine and wine are not fun to read, but The Vineyard Cookbook is - it has exciting, workable recipes and wine recommendations that are bound to make for some kick-butt entertaining."
--Steve Girard, Part time Chef and full time Owner of Benton-Lane Winery (Oregon)

Publishers Weekly
In this collection of 60 seasonally-themed dishes, with wine suggestions, cookbook writer Scott-Goodman (The Beach House Cookbook, Sensational Salads, The Diabetes Menu Cookbook, etc.) gives readers a virtual tour of U.S. wine country. Presented as a dozen multi-course meals, organized by season, and interspersed with short profiles of various American wineries, Goodman keeps the book moving. Whether it's a Lobster, Corn and Tomato Salad for summer, a creamy Linguine with Asparagus and Peas in the spring, or vanilla-scented poached pears in the fall, virtually all the dishes come together fairly quickly and with a minimum of fuss. As for the wines, Chardonnay and white wine fans will find a lot to like here, though merlot and cab lovers won't feel too left out. Regardless of wine preference, Goodman's suggestions for wine and cheese pairings will be of particular interest, making a complex subject easily digestible over the course of just a few pages. Gourmands may find recipes like warm mixed olives, wild mushroom soup and guacamole rather simplistic, but those new to wine or cooking in general will find this an encouraging compilation with practical suggestions for memorable meals the year round.
