These books provide two entirely different approaches to crafting greeting cards. Browning (Paper Mosaics in an Afternoon) offers step-by-step projects incorporating techniques from other crafts such as mola cutting, fancy folding similar to origami, and many of her materials are the same ones used in scrapbooking. Her finished cards are little works of art. Hagerty's (Girlfriends: Handmade Gifts from the Heart) projects are for pre-1923, three-dimensional, vintage pop-up cards, mostly valentines. Each project has a photo of the card in its original form and includes a page depicting the disassembled parts to be enlarged on a color photocopier. The parts are cut out, decorated with glitter and other embellishments, and reassembled to form a new incarnation of an old card. The finished products are quite lovely and well worth the effort. Both books are good selections for public libraries needing more papercraft material.
