Reviewed by Melinda Hills for Readers' Favorite Violca Grey suspects something unusual is going on, but her busy life raising her four sisters doesn’t leave much time to think about it. In Violca’s Dragon by Leilani Love, the title character is surprised to find that she and her sisters are in grave danger due to abilities she doesn’t even know she possesses. Fortunately for Violca, a new friend, Chase, is just the character to help keep her safe. As the danger posed by evil forces becomes more obvious, Violca learns some amazing facts about her life and her family that her parents’ untimely death kept hidden. Trying to keep her sisters safe, Violca turns to Chase and his friends for their protection. Will the group survive the desperate attempts of the rogue dragon to kidnap Violca, and what effects will the secrets of the past have as the sisters learn their true identities? A great new addition to the paranormal genre with romance thrown in, Violca’s Dragon, Book 1 of the 2-volume Dragon Ruby Series keeps you turning pages, anxious to see how things work out. Leilani Love writes with passion, creating a fantasy world that is quite believable, with characters that are real in spite of their special gifts and abilities. Some coarse language and explicit sex scenes may be too intense for some readers, but the excellent plot, well developed characters, and exciting action keep you engaged and entertained. This is a great story and the promise of more to come in volume two makes it even better.

Dimitri believes the time has come for humans to bow down and worship dragons and all supernatural beings. Can Chase, Scott and Erik alone keep them safe from Dimitri, Malachi and his minions? I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review. My honest review is this: I opened this book last night at midnight to see what the flow of the writing was like so that I would know where to put it on my TBR (To Be Read) list. A quick five minutes and then I could go to sleep. At three-thirty I finally turned off my iPad after checking out book two The King's Fire. I was blessed to be approved to review it today so you know what will be coming soon. Violca's Dragon is a fast moving novel with well developed characters. You will not be able to put this novel down. If you enjoy paranormal romances you are going to love Violca's Dragon. Now that I have discovered Leilani Love I am going to be checking out her other stories as soon as possible. Thank you Ms. Love, I do not know when I have enjoyed a sleepless night more.

This story is fantastic! I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. This story begins with a woman named Violca who is being chased through the woods by something dreadful. When she wakes up, she is back in her room and thinking about the past. Her parents died, leaving her raising her four younger sisters. With the help her of best friends, Brandon and Annebelle, she is able to get through the toughest part of her life. Violca runs into a man named Chase who is mysterious, fun and attractive. Their relationship heats up fast, but he is hiding something. Once everything is all out on the table, is she able to trust him or is he another man who doesn’t want to be tied down to a woman raising four siblings—like all of the rest. My favorite characters in this story are Violca, Angie and Scott. Both characters are strong, compassionate and intelligent. While Violca was forced into raising her four younger sisters, she never shows regret or negative behavior regarding this choice. She truly loves her sisters and knows that their best interests come first before her own. Katy, Sari, Angie and Eva are all very different in personality as well as age, but they are all really fun to read about. Angie is the innocent young sister who can see Chase and the other two brothers for what they really are before anyone else. She is very funny and her insight is accurate and ironic. Scott is another character that I found myself sympathizing with because of his situation. Shifters are meant to imprint, but I found myself saddened by his current state of anguish upon learning of his imprint being too young. His resolve really enlightened me since friendship is the sole emotional bond before any type of relationship can form. My least favorite characters are Micah, Annabelle and Brandon. Brandon’s character may change in the next book within this series because I did find myself warming up to him toward the end of the story. I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who is interested in reading paranormal romance or young adult fiction. I really enjoy reading paranormal stories, but this one did catch me a little off guard since it combines fantasy characters and paranormal characters. The story is written well and the author does a wonderful job with the development of her characters. The pace continues at a fast pace, which makes the story really easy to read. It did engage my interests and I was able to imagine the scenes in this story with clarity based on description alone. Since this series has started off with creativity and original context, I rate it with five stars and look forward to reading more by this great author!

Unfortunately, this is definitely NOT a five star book. Transitions are rough and editing lacking. There are multiple typographical and grammatical errors, especially inconsistent tense (mixing present and past tense in the same sentence.) Formulaic plot - she is a beautiful witch with black hair and violet eyes. She doesn't yet understand her powers, and works as a receptionist at a law firm, taking care of her younger sisters because their parents died in a car accident. He feels protective of her, walks aroung keeping his dragon in check despite being drawn to her. He works with his team to protect her from the bad Dragon and his demon cohorts. Having a hard time even finishing.

Angel's Guilty Pleasures Review ~ 2.5 Violca's Dragon ~ Violca's Dragon is book one in The Dragon Ruby series by Leilani Love. LLove is a new author to me. I am torn over this book. It has potential, but the writing was choppy and other things just didn't work for me. The transitioning between the scenes and the characters POVs where not smooth. Another thing none of the characters stood out. They where all just their. The romance between Violca and Chase was a very slow burn and never really picked up. The whole book was slow. We also have a possible secondary romance with secondary characters, but I just felt bad for Scott (secondary character) since his mate is currently underage. That made me feel bad for the guy and also a little weirded out with this set up. The three sex scence we got where, blah. I felt like the first two where the same wording just different locations, no originality or variation in the sex scene. The story was mediocre. The author throws our paranormals into a contemporary setting. We are given a lot of information about the five sisters who know nothing about their heritage. I enjoyed the history/heritage on the witches. I like that we have a verity of supernaturals working together to stop a war and find the diamonds in the ruff, who can change the course of the world. I got frustrated that once they where found that they got to go home even with the hutners still huting them. That just did not work for me. Also when Violca encounters the Demon sent after her and destroys it. It felt to easy. Then we have the ending. Well it just ends. Didn't really feel like an ending. Violca's Dragon was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you. *Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy provided by Booktrope via NetGalley with the sole purpose of an honest review.
