This book made me smile, cry and most of all reflect on life's bitter sweet struggles..It's a must read for everyone, you don't have to be a horse lover to enjoy this story, i've never been on a horse yet in her own unique way, miss barnes, at some point, made me feel proud to be a knight.. I look forward to read more books from this author.

I loved what she wrote becasue what she wrote is whatc most riders have to go through in most of are riding careers. This book was so mazing becasue when i was reading it, it made me want to be with my horse write at that moment although I always want to be with my horse this book also made me realize how lucky i am to have such a nice horse! This book is amazing and i think if you have a true passion for horses you need to read this!

My daughter, son and I all ride and this book is very touching to the heart. My daughter, Heather, has been riding for about a year now and my son, Phillip, has been riding for about ten or so. This book has touched us all in a way other books couldn't. This is a story that is recommended to children and adults alike.

I am a absolute horse lover, and I have met Mary Barnes. She is one of the nicest, most incredible people that I know and love. I loved Virginia Gentleman. I read it once and am almost finished with my second. I couldn't put it down. I can relate to this book and have cried in ways she did. I LOVE IT!!

I started riding when I was 4, and had to quit when i was 16. My aunt gave me this book for Christmas when I was 17, still dealing with the loss of my passion. I finally started reading it 2 days ago, now 19, and now I'm almost done with it. Not only that, I'm about to start riding again too. She captures to perfectly the love true horse people have to the animals and the joy of just being on a great horse. The book is inspiring and a pleasure to read.

This book was an outstanding book. Mary Mitchell Barnes did an excellent job writing down her thoughts. She made me think that I was actually the person riding the horse. It was such a great book that I cried at the end, normally I'm not a person to cry when I read books. I simply could not put this book down!

Tears flooded my eyes as I read the begining and rolled down my face at the end, I read it in a weekend. I couldn't put it down. I read it in the barn as I filled the water tanks. What a sensative and beautiful story. It is a must read for all horse lovers, their families and any and all animals lovers. She puts into words the feelings and emotions that we all have for these noble animals. It was lovely. Please write more. . .

I ride hunter/jumpers, and enjoyed this true account of life on the circuit. However, the appeal is broader than to just the competitive rider. My mother, who is not a rider, read it and loved it. I never put the book down. There is a lot in this book that concerns life, love, and the big issues.

Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. Mary Barnes uses colorful language and vivid imagery to relay her true story of the relationship between a girl growing toward adulthood and the horse who provides stability in her life. I cried many times while reading this book -- not because it is sad, but because it is a poignant and honest portrayal of human emotion and experience.

A crazy bohemian love connection between a horse and owner! Not only would I reccomend this book to the horse fanatics, but to normal people who just want a book to cozy up with, spill coffee, and say NO! All the best to the author, becuase she is the greatest @U/\/T :-)
