Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 2-4Fred spends his free time at Aunt Grunella's chicken farm playing "Dumb," his favorite virtual reality game. But when alien invaders that look like plucked chickens infiltrate Earth through the game, Fred must play for real. This is a silly easy chapter book with silly action. The slapstick humor and adventure, reminiscent in pace of a 20-minute TV cartoon, should interest beginning and reluctant readers, but the plot and character development are so thin that they are virtually nonexistent. Virtual Fred will be picked up and read, but not remembered.Nina Lindsay, Vista School, Albany, CA
