Visage

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - John Bush
Visage is one of those increasingly innumerable chill-out/downbeat compilations with a provocative cover presumably compensating for any lack of distinction from the music within. Still, this one does rise above the pack, with intriguing choices by compiler Félix Cutillo and a subtle blend of artists familiar to downbeat fans with solid productions from new names. The sounds and styles referenced certainly aren't distinctive; there's a heavy emphasis on Brazilian forms, paced by tracks from Mr. Hermano courtesy of the world music obsessives at Mr. Bongo Records, the Vienna-based Freedom Satellite, the always breezy and laid-back Nicola Conte his remix of a Greyboy original, ...

The last half of the mix begins to open it up, encompassing everything from intelligent downtempo Kevin Yost to a housey Isley Brothers cover "It's a Disco Night" from Pascal and Mr. Day to a Pépé Bradock closer in a reggae style. The mix isn't seamless, but since this is more a compilation than a mix album, it's easily forgiven. Visage is almost as interesting a mix for fans of Jazzanova as those of Sade.

    Visage

¿ Europa Pop¿s first release is nothing but a prime collection of smooth. Blended to perfection are 14 tracks of jazz and Latin inspired up- and downtempo cuts made to warm and enchant. ¿ - Minty Magazine

    Visage

¿¿when it comes to lounge and chill electronica, it¿s all about selecting strong tracks and presenting them in a natural sequence that flows effortlessly from track to track. VISAGE is an excellent example of how it should be done. Felix Cutillo compiles an eclectic blend of tracks that represent many styles¿.VISAGE is sophisticated enough to challenge the most jaded lounge lizards and accessible enough to hold the attention of the masses.¿ - Atomica Magazine

    Visage

¿......a seamless, sultry mix of sassy Franco-house, hip-shaking Latin jazz and deeper downtown grooves for dance music connoisseurs with more sophisticated audio palates¿if you're hungry for something a more well-balanced, a little more cosmopolitan and, dare we say it, mature, then this is the joint¿.¿ - San Francisco Examiner

    URB Review

¿At a time when dance compilations fill the racks of every Mom and Pop and chain store in the US, few immediately capture the attention of the listener. Rarer still are those mixes that suspend disbelief and bring the listener into another place. Hyperbole aside, 'Visage' is among those¿ This compelling mix does not feel out of place anywhere. It is at home in the new global cosmopolitan world, in which cultural influences intersect. It is a collection that is at once danceable, soothing, and richly textured.¿ -URB Magazine

    Tres Bien!

A definite must have. Not your typical downtempo compilation. VISAGE is truly a spectacular blend of lounge/latin/house. Bravo Monsieur Felix!

Move over Hotel Costes and Buddha-Bar!

If you enjoyed as much as I did the likes of the Hotel Costes, Cafe del Mar, and Buddha-Bar cds, then this is for you! Visage is destined to become the next "household brand". This exquisitely mixed and , yes, packaged gem is as eclectic, unique and soothing as they'll ever come. I bought it two days ago, yet, I must have listened to it more than 12 times. I highly recommend that you get it. Kevin B (San Francisco)
