Vital to read for any family that is serious about passing on their faith to the next generation. Parents, pastors and grandparents should all read this. Faith passing is NOT about going to church.

We've lost a generation of churched kids to apathy and part of it may really be the church's fault. Rienow returns to God's plan for faith passing--the family. This is a must read for all young parents and their church leaders. Children need to be spiritually guided by their nuclear families. We know that years of church programming no matter how wonderful are no substitute for the family. As a children's minister, my number one goal is to equip parents to faith pass. Much of my philosophy of children's ministry has been supported by Rienow's work.

    Must-reading for parents!

Visionary Parenting is the book I wish I had as a young mother. I was pretty clueless when I became a parent. Raised as a "liberated woman" who sought to put career above all, becoming a parent threw me more curves and challenges than I could ever imagine, chief of which was this: What is my vision for my family? On most days, it was simply to get through the day. I needed a vision for the eternal significance of the job description God had allowed me to experience. Pastor Rob has helped both my husband and I to prioritize our commitments, solidify our mission and equip our home to be a place where our faith and our values are communicated. This little book is packed with mighty wisdom as well as practical helps, and can help new parents or battle-weary ones capture a fresh vision for parenting.

Great Resource for Parents and Ministry Leaders

This book outlines the principles layed out in the Visionary Parenting DVD series. The concept of Visionary Parenting is simple. It's time for parents to return to their role as spiritual leaders of their children, but we've lost that in modern culture. So, how do we do it? Visionary Parenting lays out what it takes to be a "visionary parent," one who takes an active role in passing on the faith to their children as part of an intentional plan of multigenerational faithfulness. This is not just another "how to" parenting class. This is a reminder to the Christian parent that they have the awesome and wonderful task of bringing up their children to know and love the Lord.

In addition to being an indespensible tool for parents, it is also a great resource for ministry leaders to help families in their congregations catch the vision for God-centered homes. The church has become the epicenter of all things spiritual. It's time the church helped shift parents from "outsourcing" their role to the Sunday School, to becoming partners in raising up families of faith. Churches will multiply their effectiveness by partnering with parents to build the next generation of Christians rather than losing them to the world.

I cannot fully describe how this has impacted my own family. We went from letting the world overtake our calendar and pouring all our energy into working at Sunday School at church and having nothing left over for our own kids, to creating intentional time with our children and changing the leadership roles in the household to let Dad take his proper place as spiritual leader.

We have run the Visionary Parenting DVD series at our church and have been overjoyed to see a real change in the parents who participated.

    Simple truth, amazing results!
