This has been my favorite book since I was old enough to read. Any child who has an imagination that runs wild will get lost in it.

A Visit to William Blake's Inn

A Visit to William Blake¿s Inn is a story of an imaginary inn that has many types of characters that come to stay. He has visitors that are animals and visitors that are humans. The staff members at the inn are even more interesting than the visitors. ¿Two mighty dragons brew and bake and many are the loaves they¿ve burned and many are the spits they¿ve turned and many those who stop and break their joyful bread with William Blake.¿ William Blake¿s Inn is a place where imagination runs wild. ¿Two patient angels wash and shake his featherbeds, and far away snow falls like feathers. That¿s the day good children run outside and make snowmen to honor William Blake.¿ Read this book to find out about what happens in William¿s Blakes Inn. This book by Nancy Willard was a Newbery Medal and a Caldecott Honor Book. Her first book, A Child¿s Star was published when she was a senior in high school. Nancy Willard poetic book is full of exceptional tales and wonderful illustrations by Alice and martin Provensen. The illustrations really bring the book to life. As I read the book, the illustrations allowed the story to come to life. Each experience is expressed through a brilliant poem. Nancy has always loved William Blake¿s poetry. When Nancy was writing this book, she made a model of the Inn with moons, suns, stars, and prints of Blake¿s paintings. She also included the characters in the story. Willard, Nancy. A Visit To William Blake¿s Inn. New York: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1981.

    Travels of the Greatest Kind.

This book is amazing in it's own right. To travel to the stars, eat bread baked by dragons, and to fly in a boat all at the turn of a page is so outstanding. You must read this great selection of poems by william blake.
