*The best and worst times to visit each campus
*Dates and times when campus tours are available
*How to arrange an overnight stay in a dormitory
*Information on meeting professors, admissions officers, and coaches

Visiting College Campuses also gives you mileage charts by state and region, so you'll know exactly how far your targeted schools are from one another and how many campuses you can hope to cover each day of your trip. Month-by-month academic calendars let you know when school is in session, so you won't show up to find an empty campus.

Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Voya Reviews
All students heading for college are advised to visit the campuses of their choice. This book will help to some extent, but it is only for those interested in the more expensive select schools--and only if they need directions. Limited in scope, it covers merely 250 schools across the entire country. Two Pennsylvania schools listed were checked for accuracy. The listing for Penn State gives only sketchy directions from one interstate--unfortunately not the highway most heavily used by people heading for that campus. Directions are very poor and incomplete. The entry for Dickinson, the second college checked, offered better directions but gave poor information on local accommodations. All the information in the book is easily--and more accurately--available online, on street map programs, from auto clubs, or from individual colleges and their Web sites. With no solid information for students on how to plan or organize a campus visit, this book is too narrow in scope and not accurate enough to be worth the cost. Skip this one and put your money into a resource with better information. Index. Illus. Maps. Charts. Appendix. 1999, Random, Ages 12 to Adult, 366p, $20 Oversize pb. Reviewer: Vicky Burkholder
