All Music Guide - Greg Prato
On the debut album by VAST, titled Visual Audio Sensory Theater, the listener is introduced to the many talents of one Jon Crosby. With its roots in Nine Inch Nails-like soundscapes and reminiscent of Type O Negative's mellower moments, the ingredient that sets VAST apart from its contemporaries is Crosby's experimentation with samples not yet touched upon in rock music. Some of the material sampled on the debut includes the Bulgarian Female Choir and the Benedictine Monks of the Abbey of Saint-Mauer, plus the use of an actual 18-piece orchestra, to boot. Lars Ulrich of Metallica has praised the album as "one of the best debut albums I've heard in a long, long time," and lovers of ambient electro-rock will undoubtedly agree upon hearing Visual Audio Sensory Theater.

4th time replacing this CD. Think that's an indicator if you should buy?

Never ever tire of this album. It's the type of album you crave to listen to when you want ambience and mood and mysticism. For me anyway. Stuffed with talent and passion and conviction and burning and supplication and is great at capturing the human condition. This will always be one of my most cherished peices of art.

    Truly awesome

I visited my sister at college, and she was the one that told me about vast- she and her roommates were all obsessed with it! When I got the cd I just became addicted. This first album has been described as slightly metal... I don't know, I usually don't like metal, it's more alternative, you can't easily place it in a genre. The sound are so completely different than anything else I've heard in a long time, and the lyrics are amazing. I can't help loving this band- I belive it's the first time I've ever become such a fan of any band. I truly recommend any Vast cd.

    One Incredible CD!

No matter how much I listen to this cd I never tire of it, and it seems there is always a new little sound bit or little detail that springs out. Amazing piece of work, can not wait for a follow up cd from him!

    One word? Incredible

This CD is absolutely awesome! I've had it for a few months now and never get sick of it, no matter how much I hear it. The mixture of their music with the chants is unbelievable... I still get chills listening to 'Touched'.
