Overview

Mexico's Luis Miguel has always been one of the most intense pop crooners out there, and this live set is irrefutable evidence. Unlike the glut of pop music posers flooding the market, Luis Miguel is the real thing, a true entertainer with artistic talent and principles. And as heard on Vivo, recorded in Monterrey, Mexico in 1999, his main goal is to get the entire house on its feet through the sheer might of his performance. From the opening segment with the smoldering "Tu Solo Tu" to the elegantly melodic "Te Propongo Esta Noche," Luis is full on throughout. His backing band blasts behind him like a rocket booster, embellishing each tune with a wall of gorgeous horns and driving guitars. Other highlights include the bolero medley "Romance," where he strikes a pose as the confident charmer, squeezing every ounce of pain and longing out of each tune. He then ups the ante on the next bolero medley, which includes: "Apaga La Luz," about wishes and dreams; "Contigo Aprendi," with its reflections on the meaning of a first love; and "La Gloria Eres Tu," about the power of honest love to uplift. Most of these tunes are mid-century classics, recorded by dozens of other artists. But Miguel delivers them with a purity of emotion and conviction that makes others pale in comparison.

I have seen him in concert twice, in California and Orlando. I've followed him since I was a kid in Mexico, he was a kid then too singing ''somos dos, dos enamorados''. Cried with his movie (where his leg gets amputated). What can I say he is my idol. I am so proud of him, he makes our country proud. Viva Luis Miguel!

I have this video and let me tell you I never get tired of watching Luis Miguel perform. If you're tired of Ricky Martin or those other overhyped crossover hispanic artists--you'll love Luis Miguel, a talented latin crooner/singer, who crossed over many years ago in his native language--Spanish. This vivo DVD/CD is of his greatest hits--romantic/pop/rock songs. Once you've seen him perform you'll want to watch it over and over again, and probably entertain your family and friends. However, should you not like it--you can always give it as a gift to some lady.JAJAJA
