Editorial Reviews

Chicago Sun-Times
A fearsome tour of an adolescent's psyche. Terrifying, knee-knocking suspense.
Houston Chronicle
Hair-raising from cover to cover!
Library Journal

Shy, geeky, and generally lonely, adolescent Colin is unexpectedly befriended by the outgoing and popular Roy, whom the more astute listener will recognize as an experienced manipulator and possible sociopath. With Colin so worshipful and vulnerable, the exchanges between the two are almost painful to hear, though that doesn't mean the narrator isn't skilled. Audie® Award finalist Patrick G. Lawlor lends the dialog the right blend of slyness and naïveté. Originally published in 1980 under one of Koontz's early pseudonyms, Brian Coffey, the book on which this audio is based doesn't show the craft in character and plot we've come to expect of Koontz's current works. Tight budgets are better spent elsewhere.
