God's Spirit is at work throughout all corners of the earth, woven together in this string of testimonies from missionaries serving Him around the world. Booksneeze® was gracious to provide me with a free copy of Voices of the Faithful for review. A daily devotional, Voices of the Faithful provides snippets in the lives of missionaries and the beautiful and broken people they encounter. There is a spiritual battle of darkness versus light, and God is using miraculous miracles and confident connections to shepherd in His flock. Each day holds a Bible verse, an accompanying thought or story, and a prayer for those affected in the lines above. What initially drew me to this book was Beth Moore's name on the cover. I am a huge fan of her teachings, and was curious as to how her new series would speak to me. I opened to the first page and dug in, savoring each line and breathing in the real and raw need out there for others to know the Good News. The devotions were arranged by month, and each one within that month were tied together by an overlying theme. The short and to the point devotionals made them easy to read, and if I had limited time in the day for my quiet time, I pulled out this book, read a day or two (if I fell behind!) and found nourishment for my soul. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to read of the true and marvelous happenings around the world, and how God is using so many people like us to get His message across.

This devotional book was written by missionaries. It is a typical devotional volume, with a verse at the top of each page, a short story, and a prayer at the end. There are 365 devotionals, divided into 12 topics, one for each month. There are helpful indices at the back of the book, with a listing of devotional titles by month and by Scripture. If you like a "Daily Bread" kind of format, you will like this book. One of the advantages of this book is that it highlights mission work around the world. It aims to increase the reader's awareness of and concern for missions. At the end of the book are helpful articles encouraging the individual's and the church's roles in missions. This book uses Scripture effectively. The stories are touching and challenging. I received this book for free in exchange for my unbiased review through the Thomas Nelson BookSneeze Program.

Voices of the Faithful Book 2 Compiler & monthly Introductions by: Kim P. Davis Series Creator & Introduction by: Beth Moore From the back cover, "A brand-new year's worth of inspiring stories from the front lines of faith. 366 new devotions from missionaries around the world." As a missionary, it was indeed inspiring to read stories from other missionaries around the world. The stories showed the ups and down, the struggles and challenges that missionaries and national church workers face. I enjoyed getting a glimpse into the lives of others on the front lines. This book has so many possibilities. It would make a wonderful devotion guide for anyone. I can see it used by church mission board members, families, and individuals who want to know more about and be in prayer for missionaries around the world. I feel that it would be a wonderful eye opening devotional guide for homeschoolers, opening a window into geography and cultures, as well, as mission awareness. Personally, I cannot wait to finish the current devotional we are using as a family and start this book. To add icing to the cake, so to speak, all royalties for the Voices of the Faithful series support the work of the International Mission Board. Here is a wonderful devotional that supports missionaries both in prayer and financially. It is definitely a "keeper". I received a copy of this book from Thomas Nelson publishing in exchange for an honest review.

As a child I dreamed of being a missionary. I would imagine myself in all different types of dangerous situations. Many times in my imagination I would be kidnapped, left for dead, robbed at gunpoint, and the such. Reading this devotional brought many of these memories to the forefront of my memory. It amazes me what missionaries must deal with on a daily basis. "A willingness to go is all they have in common," exclaims Beth Moore, speaking of her friends on the front lines spreading the gospel around the world with whom she collaborated to create Voices of the Faithful. This book is a 366-day devotional. Each day explores the life in the day of missionaries past and present. It starts out with a verse, then the devotional, and ends with my favorite part...the prayer. One of the great things about this book is it takes you all around the world. It drops you into situations you can't even imagine. You're able to see and in some ways experience what it is like for these dedicated missionaries. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and have used it to inspire me to be more mission minded as well as to pray more often for our missionaries. I recieved a copy of Voices of the Faithful from Booksneeze.

Voices of the Faithful is full of inspiring stories that could affect your lives as Christians. It is a whole year's worth of devotionals written by missionaries from all over the world from their own experiences and own perspectives. Some stories are so simple in context but full in meaning that you may be moved to tears. These stories show how God makes all things possible in his own time using people as instruments in spreading his love. This book will teach you the power of prayer and how prayer reaches the hardest of hearts and melts it to receive the love of the Lord. Voices of the Faithful Book 2 is one great devotional for those who have accepted Jesus but more so for those who are not familiar with the works of God.

"Voices of the Faithful - Book 2: Inspiring Stories of Courage from Christians Serving Around the World" by Beth Moore and Kim P. Davis is a good devotional - not great, but good. VOF hopes to inspire the reader with tales of miracles and encouragement from the forefronts of the mission fields. I'm not saying there aren't good stories of God's faithfulness and mercy in these pages; there are. It just was not as inspiring as the book "Jesus Freaks" was for me. I'm not sure if it's the writing styles that have made the difference, but I do know that God's glory and power are found in both books. He is still the main character and the driving plot line. I believe in the miracles that are spoken in these words in VOF. God still performs miracles today - maybe not the parting of any seas but heart changes (and if you ask me, I think it'd be much harder to soften a heart than to part water). These are stories to encourage believers, no matter how deep their relationship with Christ, to show them that God is good and that good is still triumphing over evil. While this isn't a devotional that I will probably continue to read, it is not because it's not a good book. It is and I feel it would be an encouragement to many. I'm just looking for more of a study than a devotional right now. Disclaimer: I received this book for free in order to facilitate an honest review. Others may or may not have the same experience(s) with the book or publisher as I have had.

I don't like devotionals. Very often they are cheesy, poorly written, and meager of sound biblical doctrine. Why settle for someone else's words expounding Scripture when you can ingest God's very own Word to you all by yourself? So, when I received the devotional guide Voices of the Faithful in the mail from Thomas Nelson Publishers, my hopes weren't set too high. But I couldn't have been more surprised. Created by best-selling author and speaker Beth Moore and compiled by former missionary Kim P. Davis, Voices of the Faithful Book 2 is a 366-day devotional guide written by 300 missionaries currently serving overseas with the Southern Baptist Convention's International Mission Board (IMB). Based on Scripture, the daily readings contain astounding first-person accounts of the courage and faith of ordinary men and women whom God is using in extraordinary ways across the globe. Through their stories, the missionaries (married, single, male and female) teach us exactly how to pray for missions and how God uses our prayers to affect his gracious plan for redemption. They teach us how to listen to God's voice, waiting on his perfect provision, protection and healing. And they teach us how to hope in the midst of sure danger and severe despair. Without reservation, I recommend you purchase this book. Although it bears the name of a prominent teacher to women, the stories in the book make it a wonderful gift for husbands, students, or individuals interested in missions. The book can be read as a solo endeavor or used for family devotions at meal-times. Additionally, royalties from the book benefit the over 5,000 IMB missionaries serving in 194 countries around the globe. However, I would like to add one note of caution if you purchase this book. Voices of the Faithful will inspire you to engage in God's mission for the world as never before, particularly to pray for the nations. And if you are not careful, these missionary voices will incite you to a whole a new level of participation in God's mission for the world - whether by giving or going. Book provided through Thomas Nelson Publishers and Booksneeze bloggers program.

I must admit that I am not a big fan of devotional books, really, but when I have received this book from Thomas Nelson I just loved it. It's a great book for your everyday devotional time . I must admit that when I first requested it my thought was to help me in my personal devotional time. Each month, the book has a new theme - prayer, Father's love, divine appointments etc. Each day starts with a bible verse, continues with a story from the mission field and then it ends with a prayer. I truly consider this book as a valuable one. I think every Christian should have this book because it brings encouragement and it helps keep in mind that we have a duty to talk about our Christ everywhere we are and everywhere we go. Also, this book reminds us to pray for the salvation of the world and to keep the missionaries in prayer. This is a beautiful and encouraging devotional. I loved it!

Product Description A new year's worth of inspiring stories from the front lines of faith. "A willingness to go is all they have in common," says Beth Moore and Kim P. Davis, speaking of their friends on the front lines who are spreading the gospel around the world and with whom they collaborated to create this book. This second book of 366 daily devotionals features stories of God's faithfulness, written by hundreds of missionaries worldwide. From stirring miracles to heroic adventures, this second volume highlights those who daily go to the outer limits of spiritual devotion. A follow-up to the first book which has now sold 300,000 copies. Voices of the Faithful, Book Two" is more stories from around the world--stories of believers serving and at times sacrificing for their God. In America, we can easily forget about our brothers and sisters in other countries. It's book like this one that help us remember to pray, and to not take our freedoms and faith for granted. Over 300 missionaries contributed to this volume, and each one will move you to a richer, deeper faith. And an appreciation for those who are called to go and serve away from home. Or to serve where home is a dangerous place. Each devotional is a daily reading, brief but so rich! At the end of the book there is an Index of Devotion Titles by the month including the Bible verse used, this is handy for looking up that particular story you were interested in and may want to share with someone else, to let them know what your inspiration was for the day. Looking just for the Scriptural references? There is an index for that, another lil' blessing. Another gift at the end of this book is the gift of salvation, the steps for leading a life with Christ, I believe this is an important part in any christian book, its nice to see it in this wonderful devotional!

This is not just another devotional. This is a magnificent collection of personal experience from christians serving as missionaries around the world. The structure is stories divided in 366 days (includes Feb 29th) and you are suppose to read one story per day during a full year. But the stories are so good and touching that you are always tempted to read much more than just one. One particular story that touched me deeply was the "Obeying the Nudge". This particular story showed me exactly how reluctant I am in spreading the Word of God, just as resistant as Natalie was to speak to Pavel. But we need to obey and persist in our talk about Jesus, because there is a promise that the Word will not return void to us. This book was published by Thomas Nelson in 2009 and they were kind enough to send me a copy for reviewing through their Thomas Nelson Book Review Bloggers Program.

Voices of the Faithful {Book 2} is another inspiring devotional book compiled by Kim Davis, with Beth Moore! Similar to Voices of the Faithful Book 1, each new day you'll be taken on a new adventure by a missionary or someone else who has put their lives on the line for God. These daily stories are inspirational and always encouraging! There is just something inspiring about hearing stories from Christians serving God in other corners of the world. I definitely recommend this daily devotional ~ you'll be greatly encouraged by this new book!

The mission-minded contributors Beth Moore and Kim P. Davis return to the devotional scene with this newest installment of Voices of the Faithful, a collection of daily devotions written by missionaries right there in the field. I am very involved in missions both in my home church and in my church on the field, and my anticipation for this new devotional did not go unsatisfied. The contributing authors of the daily devotions, all members of the International Mission Board and the Southern Baptist Convention, share with us readers their life experiences from the field. Very often their stories remind me of those hardships and blessings I once faced on my own field. Each month covers a new topic (such as prayer, God, Jesus, adversity and encouragement), and each day ends with a short prayer the reader can make to God for missionaries and himself that day. I would totally recommend this book to anyone seeking to understand more the daily lives of those who have sacrificed many comforts of familiarity to share the Good News with the world. The biggest change I noticed in this newest edition regards the how Moore and Davis used much less specificity in describing to where the missionaries are serving. I personally preferred the country-naming of the first book, because knowing as much about an author as I can before I read his or her material makes me enjoy or appreciate what the author's written so much more. I would like to thank BookSneeze for sending me a free copy of Voices of the Faithful: Book 2 on behalf of Thomas Nelson Publishing. Kim P. Davis compiled this devotional to open our hearts and souls to see God at work around the world through the lives of missionaries. Each entry highlights a key verse, contains stories from missionaries and a short prayer. Voices of the Faithful was a wonderful read. Some entries brought tears to my eyes, particularly where God is obviously still working miracles. Due to these missionaries that answer God's call to spread the Good News, people's lives are being transformed into something beautiful that only God could orchestrate. Not only are people being changed, communities as well are coming under the authority of the King of Kings. As I read this book I was overwhelmed by the sacrifices these ordinary people are making for the extraordinary love of Christ each and every day. As I write this I am sitting comfortably in my warm home with a cup of hot tea by my side watching the first winter snow come down. I must admit I feel a bit guilty of my comforts. Instead of pitying the missionaries for their lack of comforts, I am in awe of them and their love for Jesus Christ. Though I don't feel called myself to join their ranks, Voices of the Faithful taught me I can help by praying for God's work and sovereignty. Voices of the Faithful: Book 2 is an awe-inspiring devotional that can help us keep are focus on God's provisions and work throughout the year. I hope that anyone that chooses the devotional is blessed and in turn blesses others.

Voices of the Faithful ~ Book 2, by Beth Moore and Kim P. Davis, is a daily devotional book for the entire year. It was compiled by Kim P. Davis, with an introduction by Beth Moore. Although this is the second volume, this book does stand alone, on its own merit. Each devotional begins with a Scripture verse followed by a brief, inspirational short story written by one of 300 missionaries, who so generously contributed to this work. A prayer concludes each devotion to specifically address the needs and people groups shared in the devotion for that day. This book is indexed to show the devotional title as well as the Scripture referenced. The plan of salvation is clearly presented with 15 ways to pray for missionaries. Finally, there is an appeal to lead your church into praying, giving, and going as a long-term or short-term missionary. This book would be an excellent tool to supplement your daily Bible reading, as an illustration source for those in the ministry, and would be appropriate for teens through adults. This devotional book could light a spark in the heart of a reader to a life of missions service.

Although Voices of the Faithful Book 2 by Kim P. Davis and Beth Moore, is the "sequel" to Voices of the Faithful Beth Moore- it is perfectly suitable as a stand alone book. For those who enjoyed the original book, this second book in the series provides more of the same, short inspirational anecdotes of individual missionaries and their experiences. As with the original book, each day has its own dedicated passage, and each month is dedicated to a central theme. Though this is a devotional book, its casual style makes for quick reading. Each day's passage opens up with a biblical verse, and closes with a prayer to re-enforce the theme of the passage. The passages are brief, and get right to the point for those readers pressed for time, and are in need of quick inspriation. These stories are not neccessarily deeply spiritual, nor do they delve too deeply into scripture, and therefore can be appreciated by the secular audience and younger readers. I suppose for anonymity, the missionaries whose stories are featured- are identified only by a first name (alias?) and a location. While the lack of full name, vague details and the consistent writing style through out the book, may lead the reader to question the authenticity of each of the stories, the book is still motivational, nonetheless. The stories open the reader into a new world beyond that of our comfortable society- a glimpse of what it is like to live the faith and spread the gosepl message in other lands. Each passage has a particular faith building moral or lesson, analagous to Aesop's tales. As a blogger for booksneeze, I recieved this book from Thomas Nelson publishers for the purpose of writing this review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Imagine what a day in the life of a missionary is like. What about a year? What would it be like to witness hundreds of lives being changed, and multiple hearts being healed? What would you do if you could travel to a different part of the world, every day for a year, for less then the cost of a theme park ticket? You can do that with Beth Moore's sequel to Voices of the Faithful. 366 new stories, with a different theme for each month. Themes all the way from prayer to hope, and the constant encouragement throughout. Each day has both a scripture at the beginning, and a prayer at the end. Not to mention the incredible stories! Incredible, Miraculous stories inscribed on every page! One of the stories that stood out to me is the one on December 25th. So encouraging, and completely edifying! Mission work has always been on my heart, and this book definitely shared experiences of many different missionaries. I love books like this that have happy endings. Though this book had a few sad stories, they almost always turned out well, and everything written portrayed a purpose. I also liked that all of the royalties of the book were donated to support the International Mission Board. On a more vain note, the book is beautifully designed. I couldn't believe how incredibly beautiful it was! The font matched the book perfectly :) Overall, I loved it! I plan to post more in the future, as I have saved a few of the days for next year :) Great book, and it is 100% worth your money!

I was excited to see a second book in the Voices of the Faithful 'series'. This is a devotional book with 365 readings and is for the person who has an interest in seeing the Christian experience from a missionary's viewpoint. Beth Moore wrote in her introduction that her goal is for the reader to: feel connected to brothers and sisters in Christ all over the globe, change your 'God bless the missionaries' prayer to praying for REAL people, be motivated to cross your river of fear and do the thing God has called you to do. This doesn't mean that we need to become a missionary to a foreign land but to be missionaries where we are!! One thing different with this book is that each month has a theme, ie. prayer, hope, lost and found, etc. Although I haven't read each day's reading, I am looking forward to seeing what God will work through in my life in regards to these themes. As I read through some of the stories, I couldn't help but be encouraged as I saw missionaries go through similar experiences that I was going through. And it is so uplifting to see God work in their lives and know that he can do the same here in the United States!! In fact, in my own small country church!! I definitely recommend this book to add to your daily Quiet Time readings for encouragement and the knowledge of community in our commission to spread the Good News.
