Hawaii is a lot more exotic and interesting than those familiar, tired mass media images of hula girls, the Pearl Harbor memorial, surfing contests, beachfront hotels, etc. probably suggest. And Lee Jacobus has a wonderful eye and considerable descriptive powers. In this volume, he introduces us to a Hawaii that is gritty and mysterious and fascinating. This is a must read for anyone with even a bit of curiosity about what's waits just beneath the veil.
