Volume 2: Releaseby Afro Celt Sound System
It's been three years and 200,000 records sold since London's Afro Celt Sound System debuted one of the most intense world music fusions of the '90s. VOL. 2: RELEASE continues the extra-spatial encounter between African instrumentalists and Irish artists. Real World house producers and beat prodigies Simon Emmerson and Martin Russell feed the raw fusion into banks of rave-ready electronics, and the result is cross-cultural clubgoing for the next century. Sinéad O'Connor joins vocalist Iarla Ó Lionáird on the dreamy title track. Darker and more atmospheric than its predecessor, RELEASE integrates African and Asian elements into a tradition all its own, rooted in an East London where ethnicity and identity are just more data awaiting an electronic remix.

I have all of the Afro-Celt Sound System CD's and all that I can say is that they are truly unique. They are calm, yet invigorating. They did a great job of combining the different sounds of the music. I recommend that everybody goes out and gets all 4 of their albums. Awesome!
I can't stop playing this CD. So much going on in each track, strong beats, celtic sounds, with mysterious middle eastern sounds blended in. Addictive, I love it.
If this CD doesn't capture your ear, nothing will. Well produced and put together, Volume 2: Release offers a conglomeration of instrumentals, voice and dance all in one. Nothing I have ever heard compares to the music in this CD. It's both relaxing and electrifying!
I play this CD when I'm ready for a heavy training session; bag work, weapons and finish with forms. Superb martial arts workout music. Big Cat is dynamite!
