Overview

L.A. private eye Elvis Cole is hired by popular television star Jodie Taylor to delve into her past and identify the biological parents who gave her up for adoption thirty-six years before. Cole's assignment is to find out their biological history and report back.

It seems all too clear cut. But when he gets to Louisiana and begins his search, he finds that there's something much darker going on. Other people are also looking for Taylor's parents, and some are ending up dead.

And when Cole realizes that his employer knew more than she was telling, Voodoo River becomes a twisting tale of identity, secrets, and murder.

Elvis Cole returns in his most exciting adventure yet. Hired to uncover the past of Jodi Taylor, an actress on a hit TV series, Elvis travels to Louisiana to search for Jodi's biological parents. Soon he discovers the real reason that he's been sent there--but not before he has run-ins with a crazed housewife, a Cajun thug and a 100-pound river turtle named Luther.

The First and the Best... so far

This was my frist Robert Crais book and I don't think I could have gotten a better first impression! With Elvis Cole's twist of humor, it makes the series so much fun to read and enjoy. I found myself not being able to put it down!

    Best yet.

Elvis Cole is one of my favorite PIs. I'm working my way through Crais' books, and have enjoyed them all. Elvis Cole and Joe Pike are great characters, and the stories are always interesting. I also liked "The Two Minute Rule", although it doesn't have these two characters in it. Crais can make even a bad husband/father, bank robber, ex con likeable and sympathetic.

I keep recommending Robert Crais to my friends. The books take you on a roller and this one was no exception. One minute you're laughing out loud the next you feel the pain of real tragedy unfolding. He's a great mystery writer.

    Nice read

I cannot help but appreciate the humor. The setting for this story - south Louisiana - was well presented and crais accurately depicted the area's unique language, speech, habits and personalities. Good plot as well.

I REALLY enjoy Robert Crais' books and now I'm reading everything he's written. Except I can't find Free Fall yet. But I will.

    Exciting Story

The only reason I never give his books 5 stars is because Cole feeds his cat things that could kill it such as beer, onions, etc. Crais needs to do his research on this because it is no laughing matter.

Another good read from Crais. A good mix of the culture and climate down in Cajun Country.
