Amazin' as always!
Silent wind brushed across the forest. Winterpaw had her jaw wide in shock. Dustpaw was grinning widely.
"But... But /How/?" Winteraw stammered, looking down at her paws. "If you think about it, I'm the one that got Ripplestar and Owlblizzard killed that led to this whole prophecy thing. I fell for Hazelpaw's trick, then almost got killed, then escaped and ScorchClan went into WaterClan camp to find me, but it led to an attack!"
"Maybe that's the exact reason StarClan put you in the prophecy. C'mon, let's announce this to Oceanheart." The duo padded back to camp, Dustpaw trying to brush pelt as they walked, but Winterpaw casully pulling away.
*No way! He hasn't won me over because he may have figured out one step in the prophecy.* When they arrived in camp, WaterClan members were murmuring to each other excitedly.
"I wonder what that's all about?" She silently whispered to herself, but they kept on their path to the medicine den. "Have you heard the news?" Oceanheart greeted them bubbly, out of his usual personality. "Jumpflare and Goldenstone have figured out the first step in the prophecy! The section about the snowflake and the light it shines on WaterClan." Winterpaw and Dustpaw exchanged confused glances.
"Was it about... Winterpaw, by chance?" Dustpaw asked cautiously. The medicine cat looked at the aprentice as if he had bees in his brain.
"What...? No. They figured that almost all of StarClan's prophecies aren't literal. Maybe this one's special. They said it might mean leaf-bare, and that it's our lucky season! Yes, the first part of leaf-bare was rough, but it'll get better, according to the prophecy. We'll just have to wait to find who the natural leader is. And anyways, we couldn't even think of what the snowflake could be if it /wasn't/ literal." Part of Winterpaw was relieved for not being in the prophecy, but Dustpaw disagreed.
"I found out that the snowflake meant Winterpaw. She was blessed by StarClan with the snowfke, right? So she's the snowflake."
"No, no, no," he meowed frustrated. "Can't you see? The albinism was her blessing! Being albino has made her a very special cat."
"What if the albinism /and/ being in the prophecy was part of the blessing?" Dustpaw argued, a smile forming on his face as Oceanheart hesitated thoughtfully.
"That's a thought. Highly rare for a cat to have a blessing in two ways, but it's an idea. I have a plan. Every WaterClan cat has hope now. With Jumpflare and Goldenstone's theory, they're now deserately trying to figure out the whole thing. I want you two to tell nobody about what you think it means. The prophecy could mean either your theory or Jumpflare's. So you and Winterpaw have to figure out what it means while the rest of us try to find out what the other way is. We can compare them both at the end to see which is more... believeable. Again, don't tell them about your version, or they'll lose hope in the one they were working on and turn to yours. It's good to have two theories. Don't worry about Jaysong, she's still unconious and didn't hear any of that. Good luck prohecy-ing, and wish us luck wth ours!" With that, he vanished into the darkness of the den to continue working on Jaysong, leaving the two apprentices shocked as well as excited. (Lots of dialogue in this chapter!) -Reflections♦
