Having bought this book and let it sit for more than five years before actually reading it, I was appreciative of its power and eloquence (not to mention the incredibly detailed and in-depth research that obviously must have been done) when I did finally open it to read. Mr. Lewis brought DuBois to life for me in such a manner as to inspire me to not only read as much of DuBois's work as I could find, but to actually create a presentation to expose Mr. DuBois to a current audience of thoughtful and inquisitive people. Many will agree that DuBois's was a commanding intellect and his influence, though not always recognized, is still very much felt in civil rights, women's rights, Pan-Africanism, labor relations, African-American intellectualism and sociology, among others. I am eagerly awaiting the subsequent volume. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
