This book is being passed around our work place. It is funny and speaks in plain English about what really goes on in many work places. It is good to see someone in leadership actually tell the truth about what really goes on. We all know it anyway so it's just refreshing to see someone in executive level leadership finally admit it.

MBDH has written the book for those held hostage by the corporate terrorists all over America. FIGHT BACK AMERICA! THROW THEM DOWN THE STAIRS!

This book hit me right between the eyes. It is everything I am going through and have been for years at work. She writes things in words that you already know in the back of your mind but never thought of how to express it or what to call it. This book is too cool.

This writer holds nothing back when sharing about the dysfuncitonal workplace from the point of view of the people on lower and middle levels. She uses her experiences and those of others as a catalyst to bring out each point of the dysfunctional environment. Her book is different than most in that it comes from the perspective of one who has made it partway up the ladder but rather than stay and get knocked around recognized that there are other alternatives. She addresses the fear issue which most 'hostages' have and how she and her cronies overcame this. The book is truthful, practical and easy to understand. She does well at reaching readers at almost any level.

I bought this book at the recommendation of a friend who had read it. It is easy reading and relates to the average American worker. Deaton-Harris takes her experiences and uses them in a positive way to help others get out of the hostage-trap or to avoid it in the first place. She uses humor to do this and is able to keep the reader interested and in tune. This book doesn't totally focus on her experiences but she offers a how-to approach on getting untrapped. This is the crux (sp?) of what a self-help book is about. I enjoyed the book.
