Get lost in Waiting for an Earl Like You, the next lush, sensual Regency romance in the Masters of Seduction series by USA Today bestselling author Alexandra Hawkins.

Justin Reeve Netherwood, Earl of Kempthorn—a.k.a. Thorn—has never cared much for his neighbor’s daughter. But his twin brother, Gideon, befriended the wild, reckless, and wholly inappropriate Miss Olivia Lydall in youth, and two have been close ever since. So when Olivia finds herself in a state of romantic conflict and seeks out Gideon for advice, he’s only too pleased to oblige. Only problem: The man Olivia is speaking to is Thorn. And now it’s too late for him to tell Olivia the truth…

Thorn always believed that Olivia was too smitten with Gideon for her own good. So what’s the harm in steering her away from him? But Thorn’s charade turns out to be anything but harmless once he begins to see Olivia for who she really is: A woman full of spirit and passion…and someone he can’t live without. But how can Thorn claim Olivia’s heart when their deepening connection—and burning desire—is built on lies and deceit?

1.5 stars plodding in terms of pace, with characters who didn’t stand out I had read the first in this series (A Duke But No Gentleman) and was intrigued to see where the author had taken this Regency romance series. Now we have Thorn, the Earl, and his younger twin brother Gideon. Thorn is more than a touch judgmental and rigid, and he often can’t see people or what they ARE rather than what they had been as children. As he is now of the age (and position) to seriously think in terms of a wife and heirs, he’s unable to get himself to see past the wild hoydenish behavior of the child Olivia, when confronted with her as a now grown woman. Always Gideon’s friend as children, the two were wild, reckless and completely behaving like children. But now, Olivia has sought out her former best friend, Gideon, for some romantic advice. Problem is, she actually found Thorn, and couldn’t tell the difference. Back and forth, up and down, Thorn does finally see that Olivia is a wonderfully kind, passionate, and spirited young woman: truly seeing Gideon as a friend and slid advice-giver. But, Thorn’s dug a hole, a deep one, and he can’t seem to find the right way or time to tell her the truth. Again – I came up against issues and problems with this story as well: the twin switch was far too convenient and made Olivia seem incredibly daft and clueless: which she wasn’t at all. Where in the first book I had issues with a lack of definition and voice for the characters, here the problem became Thorn, Gideon and Thorn playing Gideon – there were no distinctions whatsoever. And that lack of solid voice came up repeatedly – as the author chose to put them in the same scene. What started as a possible misunderstanding made for good intentions (or at least in Thorn’s view) became to feel like a mean prank played on a woman who was too dim, or too besotted and befuddled with all of the sexual tension that she could never see the difference. When you add that reaction to a story that was, essentially plodding in terms of pace, with characters who didn’t stand out – and you get this. Sadly a huge miss for me, and most probably the last I will read from this author. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Alexandria Hawkins has a talent for writing historical romances that are the perfect blend of intrigue, sex, and story. This book features Thorn and his twin Gideon and their childhood frenemy Olivia. They are involved complicated tale that is one of the best twin related romances since the Parent Trap. As the reader makes their way through the story a wonderful plot keeps them both interested and entertained. If you are a fan of historical romances, this is the book for you!

Waiting For an Earl Like You by Alexandra Hawkins Masters of Seduction #3 Olivia Lydall grew up next door to the twins Gideon and Justin Netherwood. Justin, the Earl of Thornwood, and his brother have not seen one another for several years because Gideon left to make his mark on the world and perhaps acquire a fortune, too. At first it seemed that the brothers might be vying for Olivia’s attention or even might consider sharing her BUT that is not at all what happened. Both brothers care for Olivia but only one really loves her and has loved her for quite some time. Olivia is not always aware of which twin she is with and the fact that they pretend to be their sibling rather than themselves leads to misconceptions from time to time. There was some romancing, a compromising position that caused a betrothal, a kidnapping and a few other surprises in the story before a HEA was found for Olivia and Thorn. The story had promise and was a fair read but never really fully drew me in. I think I was more interested in finding out who Gideon might be in love with or who some of the other characters might end up with in the future than reading the ups and downs of the main characters in this book. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. This is my honest review. 3 Stars

Received an ARC for voluntary review for netgalley. Supposedly the hero was Thorn and heroine Olivia, but there were so many other characters and there story that at times you wondered why? are they here. Thorn and Gideon are twins, identical, so much so that even their own mother can not tell them apart. Gideon and Olivia are friends, yet Thorn does not care for Olivia. Thru mistaken identity Olivia falls for Thorn, and he does not admit who he is. Of course eventually it comes out. But there are so many unanswered questions left? And, I hate to read about attempted rape, just ruins everything for me.

A good historical read. This is a fast paced historical read with plenty of drama and suspense. I liked Thorn and I found the story entertaining, as with others I question how she couldn’t tell twin brothers Thorn and Gideon apart. I really love this series and recommend reading the others in the series, I will admit this one was not my favorite, however I will continue reading more in the future. An entertaining historical read.

Waiting for an Earl Like You by Alexandra Hawkins is a totally fantastic read. Ms Hawkins has delivered an amazing cast of lovable characters in this book. Thorn and Olivia's story is a fast paced historical romance filled with drama, humor, sizzling sexy bits and action. You never knew what would happen at the flip of a page, this book will grab your attention at the first page and not turn you lose until the last page. I loved reading Waiting for an Earl Like You and look forward to reading more from Alexandra Hawkins in the future. Waiting for an Earl Like You is book 3 of the Masters of Seduction Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley.

This books cover is amazing. It is very dynamic much like the story within the pages. December is a month of reading new authors to me and I am excited to add the Author Alexandra Hawkins. This story drew my attention with the blurb about twin brother's but what kept me reading was the tension between the twins over Olivia. Having always loved watching the interaction between twins this book stands out for the tension between the two which Thorn was at a loss to understand. Filled with animosity between these two brothers it adds just the right amount of tension to make the story very interesting. Thorn is a typical first son. Always in charge and it was fun watching how the author expanded his stiff personality to accommodate Gideon and Olivia's relationship. Incorporated in this story is the drama between Olivia and her future stepmother. Lets just say I loved the solution to this relationship and all the drama around these two woman. My heart was full at the end of this book when Olivia finally understood the dynamics between the three of them. Though this book was amazing throughout I was still left wondering why Gideon disappeared years ago. I am hoping it will be explained in the next book which I will definitely read when it comes out. I give this 4 STARS for the amusing interaction between Thorn, Gideon and Olivia as well as the ending to this book. Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Loved it! This was the first time I have read a book by Alexandra Hawkins and i can’t wait to read more. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was captivated from the beginning to the end. This was entertaining and oh so hot! A full story with great details. The authors detailed descriptive narrative places the reader firmly in England during the regency era. I really liked Thorn and Olivia so much, they were interesting characters. Their chemistry was delicious and provided many great scenes of intrigue, drama and angst. I loved how their interactions heated their desires as they refused to give in to their true feelings. Thorn’s deceptions of acting like he was his twin was exciting and seductive. Loved the secondary characters as well. An amazing well written storyline with excellent characters. The passionate and entertaining interludes between Thorn and Olivia is like no other. The twists and turns that the story takes makes it all the more captivating. Loved it! I voluntarily agreed to read an ARC and post an honest review.

Justin Netherwood, Earl of Kempthorn, better known as Thorn, has some grievances with his identical twin Gideon who has returned to England from his travels. He has never been sure of why Gideon left England. They are both attending a party at their parents’ country estate along with friends and family. Olivia Lydall is also attending the party. She lives on the neighboring estate and has been friends with Gideon since childhood. Even as a child, Thorn, as the heir, was more reserved and somewhat envious of her friendship with his brother. Lady Felstead, the twins’ mother, insisted Olivia, whose mother had died when she was very young, come to London with them as she wanted to help Olivia with her wardrobe. In London, Thorn and Chance rent a house behind Olivia’s father’s townhouse to keep an eye on her until her father arrives. The garden has a gate between the two and Thorn takes advantage of that to see Olivia. But she thinks Gideon is the twin checking on her. Until the night Thorn escorts her home from a ball and her father opens the carriage door and finds them in a compromising position! I don’t like plot spoilers, so you’ll have to read this wonderful book to find out if they do get their HEA. It’s a very good story.

Malster Park, England The Marchioness of Falsead has invited all of the friends to a house party at the family home, Malster Park. Her son, Justin Reeve Netherwood, Earl of Kempthorn, or Thorn as he is known by his family, is taking in all of the activities around him. Thorn’s identical twin brother, Gideon, for whom the party is being held, seems to be missing so his mother asks Thorn to find him and get him back to the guests. We discovers him in a small sailboard with Miss Olivia Lydall, age 19, daughter of Lord Dewick who owns land that borders on Malster Park. Thorn, Gideon, and Olivia all played together as children. As Gideon and Olivia are returning to shore, the boat capsizes and all three of them get wet as Thorn has to rescue Olivia. Olivia’s father, Lord Dewick, is preparing to marry Lady Grisdale, a 35-year-old widow. The woman has inserted herself in Olivia’s life helping to guide her to find a husband when, in truth, she just wants Olivia out of the house. Olivia is angry at the woman’s interference. Thorn is a rather staid and strict man who has at times found fault with Olivia which angers her. Even though Gideon is the one who appears to be courting her, she can’t help but be drawn to Thorn. I became quite confused at times trying to figure out who all the characters were and their background. Unfortunately, this is one of those books that needs a warning on the front telling readers that they must read the earlier books in the series or they will be totally lost as I was. I honestly did not enjoy this story at all. Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Waiting for an Earl Like You is the third book in Alexandra Hawkins Masters of Seduction series, and it is was fine but slow moving. I am a long time fan of Ms. Hawkins, but this entire series has been a disappointment. The Netherwood twins - Gideon and Justin - have had a strained relationship the last few years since Gideon left England to seek his own path and fortune in life. Justin (Thorn) is the heir to Earldom and has been the responsible, dutiful son. When Gideon returns and pays attention to their neighbor and longtime friend, Olivia Lydall, Thorn finds himself resenting their relationship. He has always been jealous of their closeness and holds a secret tendre for Olivia. When Thorn poses as Gideon and kisses Olivia, things start to get very complicated. He finds himself wanting her more and more, but he knows when she discovers his deception, he might lose any chance with her. I am not sure what took Olivia so long to determine it was Thorn - not Gideon - but I was ready for her to discover what Thorn had done and moved on. There’s a mystery thrown in towards the end, but Waiting for an Earl never caught my attention and is sadly forgettable. ARC provided by publisher via NetGalley, but no one made me write this review and my opinions are honest and my own.

Waiting For An Earl Like You is an entertaining, well-written and captivating historical fiction novel. Identical twin brothers, Thorn and Gideon, have known Olivia since childhood. Although the three played together as children, Olivia gravitated towards Gideon, rather than his brother. Thorn, the young Earl, was too serious and moody for Olivia. She also felt intimidated by him. Since she was only a Baron’s daughter, Olivia didn’t feel worthy of the Earl’s attention. Thorn, however, was jealous of his twin, and the affection Olivia gave him. Gideon told his brother that Olivia was only a friend. The Earl, however, wasn’t so sure about that. Even as a young man, the Earl of Kempthorn, pushed himself to get whatever he wanted. If it wasn’t freely given, he took it. When Olivia didn’t pay attention to him, he stole kisses from her by pretending to be Gideon. However, when Olivia was kidnapped, Thorn was beside himself with worry. He realized that his obsession with the Baron’s daughter was much more than just lust. He was in love with her. Olivia had her hands full with the Netherwood brothers, but that was the least of her worries. The man who she considered to be a good friend and suitor, betrayed her in the most despicable manner. And the man whom Olivia realized, that she was in love with, had proven beyond a doubt, that he cherished her. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It did become confusing at times, but that’s probably because it’s part of a series, and I haven’t read the first two books as of yet. Still, it was easy enough to fill in the blanks and become engrossed in the story until the very end. Many thanks, to the publisher and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.
