Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publishers Weekly
Each page of Waiting for Christmas by Marion Dane Bauer, illus. by Jayoung Cho, sports a cut-out window filled with glittery liquid and shiny shapes that little fingers can swish and twirl. One window pictures a snowy winter's day, another offers a peek inside at a sleepyhead snug in bed. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
A young boy recounts the arrival of snow and the other things that brighten his holiday—candy, lights, presents and awaiting the arrival of Santa. These super sturdy board book pages with a die cut hole will stand up to heavy use, but the story is so slight that the book may not get much rereading. The illustrations are not exceptional, but do show many of the items associated with the Christmas holiday—wreath, candles, a decorated tree, lights, presents, cookies and milk set out for Santa. The final page contains a vinyl scene that includes floating packages and gold speckles. It doe not seem to add much or have any real relation to the text. Also for those, where snow falls there may be greater appeal than for those who live in warmer climes. 2005, Little Simon/Simon & Schuster, Ages 1 to 4.
