"The dogs that deserved a chance, the guy who needed a second, and the girl determined to save him."

My name is Emma Sawyer.

I met Charlie and Wyatt on the same sultry, summer day. It was unexpected, leaving a feeling in the pit of my stomach like the time I drove too fast over Beckett Hill. The moment happened out of nowhere, all fast and quick and a little strange. Or maybe that was just Wyatt’s personality.

It was Charlie that brought us together. Little Charlie with those ridiculous ears. I found the dog, waiting in a pool of his own blood. Waiting for someone. Waiting for me.

Now Wyatt, he wasn’t waiting for anyone. At least that’s what he said, except I saw something different in the broken guy all alone out in the woods. I knew he needed me before he knew it himself.

Wyatt with his hidden dimples. Wyatt with his warnings to stay away. He was a hard lump of coal, ready to burn everything around him. The more he burned, the more it pulled me into the pain I saw etched on his troubled face.

I wanted to help Wyatt. I wanted to save him like he had saved all the Charlies in the world. He told me not to fall for him, but I did anyway. I fell hard and fast and deeply in love with Wyatt Caulfield.

But that was before I knew his secret.

Author Note: Waiting for Wyatt is the love story of Wyatt Caulfield and Emma Sawyer, which also features rescue animals. It's a 112,000 word standalone, Contemporary Romance / New Adult Novel.

Emma, a young woman, a strong one, with a BIG heart. Wyatt, a young man, broken and lonely, with a BIG heart. Too much dogs with horrible past. So yes we cry for the characters AND for the dogs! a lots of tears... But also a lot of love. I love beautiful stories with beautiful characters, pure heart and soul. Add to this the cruel reality of a lot of dogs and there it is: wayting for wyatt! a beautiful book, different than other books i read. Redemption, peace, happiness ... You'll be okay!

Emma meets Wyatt when she takes matters into her own hands and steals Charlie from her abusive landlord. Her landlord, Kurt, was abusing Charlie and had left the poor dog starved and bloodied from his recent abuse. Emma has an extremely large, forgiving, rose-colored glasses personality and she just can't stomach any more abuse being heaped on Charlie. When Emma seeks to bring him to a rescue shelter, the woman in charge directs her to Wyatt. Wyatt is definitely a man of mystery in the beginning of this book. She knows he is broken but doesn't know why. To say he is standoffish is an understatement. Her poking and prodding causes tension between the two and Emma just doesn't give up on getting to know him. Wyatt finally realizes that she brings lightness to his dark world and tries his best to let her in. When he does finally tell his tragic story, Emma doesn't know what to do. Wyatt feels he needs to be punished and not enjoy life for what happened and Emma has to go out of her way to make him see that he needs to live and try and get past what happened. It was well done and, even though Emma jeopardizes everyone when she tries to steal two new puppies from Kurt, all works out in the end. Wyatt was finally able to see that being "punished" for his actions didn't make anything better. When he finally gets free from his sentence, he embraces his new life and realizes that he will never forget what happened, he needs to find the strength to get past it. I would give it 4.5 stars.

4.5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak. This is Emma and Wyatt’s story. Wyatt spends a lot of time with dogs or alone. When Emma shows up with an abused dog will Wyatt be welcoming? Can Emma break down his walls? Or will he keep pushing her away. When pushing does not work will he reveal his past and hope that sends her running? Can Emma convince Wyatt he is the one for her and she will love him no matter what. Can Emma make him understand what she sees from his past or will he always have the guilt? Can one small dog be the reason that these two not only find each other but bring them both the love they never thought they would have? Will the reveal of the secrets really end everything or will it be just the beginning of something special for them both? I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book.

This was my first book by this author and certainly not my last. This beautiful, compelling, and riveting story stole my heart. You truly don’t understand unconditional love until you read Wyatt and Emma's story. Emma Sawyer meets Wyatt Caulfield and Charlie on the same day. Charlie is the abused dog she rescues from her apartment manager. With nowhere to actually place the dog, Emma meets a woman that tells her about a safe place for abused and abandoned dogs. This leads her to a red dirt road. To Wyatt. When she meets him, she instantly sees a boy that has seen darkness. That knows pain. But he takes care of these animals. To get them ready for adoption. So Emma leaves Charlie with him. Not knowing that by rescuing Charlie on that same fateful day, that she would find her other half in a broken and shattered boy. Emma goes back to Wyatt’s place. Under the pretense that she wants to see Charlie again. But deep down, Emma wants to know more about about this boy with dimples. Dimples that she barely catches, but they’re there. A boy who loves animals but wants nothing to do with the touch of another human being. He is determined to not allow Emma to get close. As he pulls away, she pushes harder. But slowly, she eases her way in. And soon enough he finds that she has found a way into his heart. He’s just not sure if he’s ready to give her back. His past weighs heavily on him. It’s a part of his life that even the darkness can’t keep away. But being with Emma? She makes it easier to breathe. To exist. To live. Waiting For Wyatt was full of raw emotions, exquisite prose. This is a story that pulls at your heart strings. The author grabs you and you have no choice but to become emotionally invested in the story and its characters. While the pacing is a bit slow in the beginning, the author engrosses the reader within the world of Emma and Wyatt. You understand that you must fall with them to truly recognize the depth of their love. You watch two lost souls find each other. Their turbulent love story is intense yet beautiful. The author has written a moving and flawless story about two individuals that found love even in darkness. Their love saves. I don’t think I’ve ever met a soul as broken as Wyatt. But his heart? It’s so pure. So full. He has so much love to give. Emma is like a breath of fresh air. You literally FEEL the moment when his soul feels an ounce of hope. That perhaps just maybe, he doesn’t have to live in his dark world. While he didn’t believe that he deserved love, his heart loved so deeply. Relentlessly. While sitting in the dark for so long, Emma became his light. Their story is never easy. It doesn’t follow any formula or time frame. Wyatt’s love inspires. His love transcends. His love for Emma moved me. And while his secret is heartbreaking, Emma loved him beyond his pain. His past. She loved him. The good. The bad. She loved every single shattered piece that belonged to Wyatt. Waiting For Wyatt is a story about second chances, forgiveness, and never allowing your heart to give up on the one it belongs to. Emma saw Wyatt. Truly saw beyond all the pain. She grew to love his heart. And most importantly, his soul. Wyatt never believed in being worthy of love. Love always goes where it belongs.
