This is a wonderful novel -- entertaining, full of laughs, fun, and just makes you feel good! It's a must read for anyone who has gone through the process of applying to graduate school. It's a great read for everyone, young and old!
This is clearly a very talented author. I can't believe this is just her first novel -- can't wait to read more in the future!

Can't go. Laurel Gans captures that and so much more in this laugh out loud, humor filled, twists and turns at every corner, novel. She captured it and so much more with Kacey! From page one, Kacey has your laughing your way through this novel. Her wittiness is addictive and her struggles are lifelike. Kacey, poor soul, gets told she's no longer accepted into the dental program at her school because she's slightly (just one number off...) off her GPA that they are now accepting. Through out Kacey's story, her friends-i.e. namely her awesome roommate Natalie, her family, even Taylor who keeps flirting with the poor girl, all lend a supporting depth to the story and keep the reader intrigued and hooked. Life's not always fair, and sometimes, life needs adjustments in order to turn out even remotely close to how we wanted it to. Kacey learned that when she got the boot from U of I, the one place that her family has been attending...until her. Some of the ideas that Kacey spoke of, or things she said, were often a bit far fetched but with a bit of wit and humor, Kacey worms her way into the readers heart and stays. Laurel Gans is superbly talented. I really loved this book and it's on my recommendation list. And the cover? LOVED it! It really blended well with Kacey's story. Worthy of 4 Books and a spot on my return reading list, this book is fantabulous! I would love to see Kacey return in another laugh out loud chick lit novel. Well done, Laurel! Overview
Kacey Barlow had no idea it would be this hard to get into grad school. Her well-to-do family has been attending UI for generations, and admissions had been recruiting her since high school! She was a shoo-in—that is, until they gave her the boot. She can’t tell her parents, and can’t stand the thought of her friends going off to grad school without her. Her grades are slipping. Her professors can’t remember her name, and her tutor, Taylor, won’t stop hitting on her when they’re supposed to be studying.
Okay, maybe that last one isn’t so bad. But it’s not going to help get her a seat...
