Overview

A stranger in the wings, a traitorous pair of toe shoes, and a traumatic turn dancing with The Great Rubio... For ballerina Ashleigh Keaton, it's been one hell of a night.
But it's not over yet. When Rubio drags her to a private party at his friend's house in the ritzy part of London, she meets Liam Wilder, a lifestyle dominant and frighteningly seductive man. Liam pursues Ashleigh, attracted by her strength and talent, but she has secrets-an abusive past and a crippling fear of intimacy that prevents her from connecting to anyone, especially a playboy reputed to be legendary in bed.
Eventually he wins her trust and sets out to heal the troubled dancer, awakening her to a world of sensual abandon in a series of "sessions" at his home. But how pure are his motives? Is he helping her or endangering her fragile soul? Liam hides his own destructive secrets, and so does Fernando Rubio, their temperamental friend. Over time the three become embroiled in a tangle of artifice, fears, and lies that threaten to undo everything they've worked for.
Will Ashleigh and Liam find the strength to defeat their demons? Or are they cursed to sleepwalk through life forever, afraid to experience the passion and intimacy of love?

This 81K word romantic novel contains reflections on childhood abuse and violence which may disturb some readers.

I was really surprised with this book. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting when I started reading it but it more than surpassed my expectations. Ashleigh is a vry minor ballet dancer and suddenly she is pulled into the starring role with her idol, Rubio. She has to run back to the dressing room to get another pair of pointe shoes and a stranger helps her get the door unlocked. Let's fast foward to the dance portion where she finds out that Rubio is a jerk and full of himself. They end up at the stranger's house and this is where it gets good. They are going to a BDSM party. Ashleigh is as vanilla as a person can get so she's shocked out of her mind and ends up leaving very quickly. The stranger ends up being Liam Wilder, who is very interested in Ashleigh. While Ashley was growing up, her father sexually abused her and she finally ran away from home. She is so scared up sex that she has decided to live a long and lonely life by herself. But she finally decides to let Liam help her try to get over this fear by using instructing her in the BDSM lifestyle. Throughout the book, they run scared of each other and are fighting back and forth. You must read the book to find out what happens between Ashleigh, Rubio and Liam. The BDSM portion of the book is really light bondage and spankings. I think Annabel has done a great job with this book which is the first one of her's that I have read. I got to meet her a couple of weeks ago and was curious about her books so I got this one. I like ballet and really enjoyed the scenes. The book flows really good and I will be reading her next one with Rubio.

Ballerina, Ashleigh Keaton meets sexy stranger, Liam Wilder backstage at the London City Ballet. Rushing to get her toe shoes when ordered to take over the prima ballerina role onstage and freaking out when she finds the door locked Ashleigh's day is saved when Liam forces the door open. Later, a very unhappy Rubio, the lead male dancer, (primadonna) invites her to the "after" party then basically ignores her. Left to her own devices she decides to go home when Liam shows up. This is a story that touches your heart as Ashleigh gives Liam control of helping her overcome her fears. Both of them have boundaries, emotional and physical space they are not comfortable with having others cross. I loved that Liam continued to be in denial throughout the story. I loved that Ashleigh blossomed. However, I did not love the scene near the end that did not seem to fit Ashleigh's character. I am looking forward to reading book 2, Rubio's story. "I received a copy of this book from Novel Reviewers in exchange for an honest review."
